RE: Project: Java Express
PE Job #2021-12305
To whom it may concern,
This letter is to address specific changes based on comments called out by the city of
Rexburg on the Java Express. All repairs or modifications are to be done in accordance
with the 2018 IBC.
Per specific comments called by the city of Rexburg, there have been some changes for
the Java Express project located in Rexburg, Idaho. Changes are as follows:
(1) A third-party Special Inspector will be needed for the bolt ups since project calls
for ASTM A325 type 1 bolts on page S0.0 of stamped project drawings.
a. Attached is a Statement of Special Inspections addressing the bolt
inspection needed.
(2) Per page S0.0, Section B. Foundations, Subsection 7., on stamped drawings, the
city inspector calls for the grade needing to be sloped six inches in the first 10
feet.
a. This is a Civil matter, will be a civil issue and may require a civil engineers
analyzation.
(3) On page S0.0 the ground snow load for the Java Express was initially set for 35
psf, and city inspection calls for a ground snow load of 50 psf. There have been
changes by setting the roof snow load to 50 psf.
a. Upon revision, the H103 and H106 headers on page S1.1 of stamped
drawings will require modification to carry load. The H103 header will
need to be modified to (3) 2 x 6 DF No. 2. The H106 header will need to
be modified to (3) 2 x 10 DF No. 2.
(4) Modifications on page SD1.0 of stamped drawings will also need to be made for
the foundation walls.
a. The city ordinance calls for the top horizontal to be in the top six inches
above rebar. This was added to sheet SD1.0
