Each response includes your comment and explains our action to correct or revise the conditions described. Thank you for your time and attention to this small but important project. Sincerely yours, Carl E Greene, Manager McNeil Engineering – Consulting Response to comments: G1.01 – Ground Snow Load 50, Roof Snow Load 35, Risk Category II, Frost Depth 36”. Special Inspector needs to be identified. Buildings located in flood zone need to have flood certificate. Response: Snow loads and risk category are shown on the steel building plans, under BUILDING DESIGN INFORMATION on the front page. Frost depth is called out on the foundation plans, sheet S1.0. Contractor to provide information for special inspector. Flood certificate included with the response package. G1.01 – If prescriptive insulation method is used, form needs to be signed. Response: Tabular method for insulation will be used. Table added to General Notes sheet G1.01 G1.01 – Need steel structural plans. Response: Steel building plans and foundation plan attached to this response. A1.01 – Restroom to meet all ADA requirements when completed. Response: Restroom designed to meet all accessibility requirements. See sheet A2.01 A2.02 – Exit lighting and exit signs to comply with sections 1008 and 1013. Response: See sheets E301 and E901 for exit lighting and signage compliance. A4.02 – Handrails shall return to a wall, guard, or the walking surface. Handrails and guardrails need to meet the requirements of section 1014 and 1015. Response: Handrails return to walls. See sheet A1.01. See also sheet A4.02 for additional guardrail and handrail notes. Handrails and guardrails comply with sections 1014 & 1015. A4.02 – Landings are to comply with section 1011. Response: Stair redesigned, and landings comply with section 1011.6. E701 – 2 parallel runs of 3/0 XHHW (AL) is only rated for 310 amps and can be placed under a 350 amp breaker (240.4B, 240.6A, Table 310.15B16). Response: Riser diagram updated on sheet E701 E701 – Need Available Fault Current calculation (110.24A). Response: Estimated Available Fault Current calculation shown on sheet E701. E701 – All panels and disconnects shall have arc flash warning labels in accordance with 110.16A. Response: Keyed Note 6 added to sheet E701 “Provide arch flash label per the required of the NEC 110.16A. Calculation shall be based on the manufacture specific data.” G1.01 – IFC 2018 903.2.9 & 903.2.9.1 items #4 requires a S-1 occupancy over 5,000 sq. ft. to have fire sprinklers installed. - Local code amendments require a fire hydrant within 150 ft. of the Fire Department Connection for the fire sprinkler system. Response: The overall size of the mechanics area of the space was reduced to be below 5,000 sq. ft. No fire sprinklers will be required. AS1.00 – Fire Department access roads must be drivable in all weather conditions, and must be rated for 75,000 lb. load. Response: Asphalt paving will be installed to allow fire department access to the new structure on an all-weather surface. New asphalt profile will be 4” asphalt paving over 8” min. of compacted road base. This will handle the 75,000 lb. load. See sheet AS1.00 AS1.00 – Fire department access roads must be 20’ min. wide with turning radii of 30 ft. min. inside turning radius and 45 ft. min. outside turning radius. Response: A clear area allowing for a hammerhead turnaround with minimum turning radii has been provided. See sheet AS1.00 AS1.00 – Fire Department access requires a 20 ft. min. clear width driveway and access at any time of day. Would need to install a Knox Box to store keys for access after hours if gated and locked. Response: A Knox Box will be install on the west gate entry along 200 West Street. See sheet AS1.00. AS1.00 – No drainage/storm retention shown. No sewer or water services shown. Response: Contours added to sheet AS1.00. Site has existing storm retention system and new installation will utilize this existing system. A new 4” sewer line and a new 1” water line will be installed as shown on sheet AS1.00. AS1.00 – Will this driveway be used? Response: Yes. AS1.00 – Storm runoff to remain on parcel. Response: Grading is designed to keep runoff around the area of work on the site and not drain onto adjacent properties. See sheet AS1.00, Partial Site Plan
