HomeMy WebLinkAbout-Kiernan Epperly City of Rexburg Zoning LetterTo the City of Rexburg, We have not lived in Eaglewood Estates for long, but the main reason we were drawn to this area was the LDR1 nature of the neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods. As a previous BYU-Idaho student, I saw Rexburg become congested with large apartment complexes where their emphasis is on how many people they can occupy. I lived in one and it never felt like home. I received full-time employment after graduation and knew I needed a permanent place to live. I lived in a small two bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment and again it never felt like home. We began our search for an area and home that put emphasis on community/neighborhood, and we found Eaglewood Estates. I felt as if we left a part of Rexburg and finally found a sanctuary away from the large apartment complexes to call home. I strongly believe that this area should stay a LDR1 zone. We moved to this area specifically for the LDR1 zone. Changing the zone of this area to MDR1 would do a disservice to those who live in Eaglewood Estates. We invested into our homes and property with the expectation that the surrounding land and subdivisions would stay LDR1. Moving from an LDR1 to an MDRI zone would also negatively impact our neighborhood visually and aesthetically. This would decrease the value of each home. As neighbors, we strive to improve our neighborhood under strict covenants as outlined in our respective HOA agreements. We make the effort to improve our community daily, please make an effort to listen to those who will be directly affected by the change of status from LDR1 to MDR1. As a homeowner in Eaglewood Estates, I do not agree with the proposed MDR1 zoning plan. I encourage you to please reconsider keeping this area and the surrounding ones a LDR1 zone. Thank you for your time and consideration, Kiernan Epperly, Katherine Epperly, Mark Epperly 378 Eagle Smt St Rexburg, Idaho 83440
