HomeMy WebLinkAboutDan Dummar Letter to City re zoning changeNovember 30, 2022 Deborah Lovejoy, Rexburg City Clerk 35 N 1st E Rexburg, ID 83440 (208) 372-2101 Office (877) 397-8137 Fax RE: Proposed Zoning Change from LDR1 and RR1 to MDR1 – Harvest Heights and Eaglewood To Whom It May Concern: I am writing regarding the requested rezoning of parcel numbers RPR6N40E296601 and RPR6N40E322402 from LDR1 and RR1 to MDR1. The 15-acre parcel is located directly adjacent to and behind my residence. I live at 582 Autumn Drive, Rexburg, Idaho 83440. It is my understanding that the developer who purchased the land wishes to change the zoning of portions of the 15-acre parcel to MDR1. I also am aware that the developer has carefully prepared his application to address school impact, traffic use, and other required engineering issues. I want to be clear that these issues are NOT my primary concern, as I trust that the planning and zoning board has properly reviewed this application to ensure that it is in compliance with these technical matters. Rather, my strongly held concerns are as follows. My wife and growing family moved to this property in July of 2008. We have enjoyed the beauty, peace, and tranquility of this property and the surrounding neighborhood. When we moved to this residence, we did so relying on the obvious consistent plan of LDR1 zoning that makes this area so appealing and comfortable. We always knew that the 15-acre parcel behind our home would one day be developed, but with the reliance that it would be done within a consistent plan and character of LDR1. In the developer’s proposed zoning change, the contiguous areas to the plots in question do not include any other MDR1 zoning. The proposed zoning change is completely inconsistent with the contiguous plots and character of the surrounding homes and neighborhoods. I understand it is important to have areas within our city that allow for growth and different zoning plans, but those areas should be organized in such a way that retain the beauty continuity, integrity, and value of our city and LDR1 neighborhoods. Inserting an MDR1 zone into the middle of our neighborhood scheme would negatively affect all of these factors. I am strongly opposed to this proposed zoning change. Please preserve the integrity and consistency of our LDR1 area by denying this proposed zoning request. Sincerely, Dan C. Dümmar 582 Autumn Drive, Rexburg Idaho 83440
