Dear Planning and Zoning Commission,
I am writing to make it known that I strongly oppose the proposal to rezone the land at
approximately 501 East 7th South, parcels RPR6N40E29660i and RPR6N40E322402, from
LDR1 to MDRI.
We bought land and built a house in a neighborhood protected by HOA covenants. We built a
single family house in a low-density owner -occupied neighborhood. We live here because of this
designation, and we are surrounded by this LDR1 designation. We paid for premium land, surrounded by
LDRI on purpose expecting the city to keep the planned designation. This land was designated LDRI and
all the land around it was built as low-density housing. Inserting a section of medium -density housing in
the middle would not be keeping the overall plan of this area and what citizens of these neighborhoods
planned and expected when they bought their land and homes. Please do not change it.
Many concerns come to mind when thinking about medium -density housing beingbuilt in the middle of
our neighborhoods: population density, traffic, aesthetics, property value and more. Please listen to the
citizens of this area. There are plenty of other places to put medium -density housing and it should not be
right in the middle of low density housing. Please do not put the desires of a developer who is trying to
make money and does not seem to care about the surrounding neighborhoods and the communities over
families. Please care about the citizens of your community over the opinions of a developer who is
seeking to change a long standing designation for their benefit.
Please retain LDRI for these parcels. The only benefit to approving this proposal would be to the
developer. Rexburg claims to be "America's Family Community". Please protect the families in the
surrounding neighborhoods.
