Re: Rezoning of approximately 501 E 7th S, Rexburg ID
We are Barbara Odegard and Jerry Pompa. We live in Harvest Heights which is adjacent to the parcel
located at approximately 501 E 7th S. We are opposed to rezoning the parcel from LDR1 to MDR1.
The City of Rexburg is attractive and friendly. One of Rexburg’s greatest assets is its small-town
wholesomeness where neighbors know neighbors. The City of Rexburg Planning and Zoning Commission
has the awesome responsibility and authority to plan future developments and ensure that Rexburg’s
special beauty and grace are also preserved.
While we understand Rexburg’s need to grow, the rezoning and development of this particular parcel to
MDR1 would be aesthetically unpleasing to the city as a whole. Building an MDR1 project in the middle
of this LDR1 residential area would fragment the coherence of Rexburg’s traditional residential
neighborhoods adjacent to the parcel.
Surely there are more appropriate parcels for this development that would better serve the City of
Rexburg and the downtown business area.
As Rexburg plans for the future, care should be taken to protect and preserve neighborhoods designed
for families who want to live in a traditional home where neighbors know neighbors.
Thank you for your consideration,
Barbara Odegard and Jerry Pompa
