Addition/Remodel project. As you know, in an effort to comply with the comments outlined in your review, we met on Friday, May 13, 2005 to address each of those comments. This memo is intended to document items as addressed in that meeting as well as changes we have made to the drawings in order to come into compliance. Please review our response as outlined below which addresses only the comments indicated as not being approved in your review document and let us know if you require any additional information or clarification. Accessible (attached) to comply with this requirement (See Item 3-30 and parking must be on shortest route as per sheet SDC3.01). This changes the two handicap stalls shown 2003 International Building Code (IBC) to van accessible stalls. As discussed in our meeting, the section 1106.6. location of these stalls is the shortest route due to the grade challenges near the new south entry. 2 Accessibility Review -See response for comment #1 above regarding van Provide van accessible handicapped parking accessible parking. As to the lockers, the lockers will be space as per IBC 1106.5. Accessible parking accessible. In our meeting, you had indicated that you had not received review comments of the energy calculations from John as of that date. Please verify with John regarding receipt of those documents and let us know if there are any comments or changes required. 5 Energy Conservation Compliance Review -As described above, the energy calculation showing Provide energy review as per the 2003 compliance were provided to John Barry of the City of Rexburg International Energy Conservation Code on 05/10/05. Please let us know if he has any comments. IECC . 6 Building Type Compliance -Per our meeting, the construction materials do meet the Building is Type IIB. Construction materials requirements of IBC Section 603. See IBC table 803.5 must meet requirements of IBC Section 603. (commentary). This table allows for a Class C material to be used in sprinkled rooms and enclosed spaces for a Group A-3 occupancy. IBC table 803.1 indicates that plywood paneling (untreated) typically has a flame spread range of 75-275. IBC section 803.1 defines a Class C flame spread range of 76-200; smoke -developed 0-450. The specifications for the project shows adherence to this in Section 064021nteriorArchitectural Woodwork part 1.5 paragraph E, which requires flame spread not to exceed 75 and smoke developed not to exceed 450. 7 Building Code Fire Compliance Review The firewall between the rehearsal hall -To comply with these fire wall comments, we have made addition and the existing building must be revisions to the drawings in addendum #3 (attached). ON Section A5 on Sheet AE321, the ceiling space that connects the lower 2 hr. wall with the upper 2 hr. firewall must also be a 2hr. assembly. Please provide details. Identify on plans that fire rated ceiling panels are mechanically connected as per IBC Section 711.3.1. Details on Sheet AE210 identify'/4' plywood as a wall sheething. The plywood will not meet the requirements of IBC Section 603. 8 Miscellaneous -As pointed out in our meeting, the specifications for the project Identify weepholes in masonry as per IBC show compliance with the masonry tie requirements. The Governing Building Code was changed on Sheet SE001 to the 2003 IBC in Addendum #3. Seismic Use Group H is appropriate as per the footnotes to Table 1604.5. Special Inspections are to be provided by the Quality Assurance Agency. Reaveley Engineers and Associates will be providing Structural Observations as deemed necessary based on the Contractor's construction schedule. The Quality Assurance Plan has been provided as Section VH in the General Structural Notes. Submittals of manufacturer's specifications for equipment used in construction is the Contractor's responsibility. The soils report was provided to Reaveley Engineers and Associates by the Owner's Representative, and should be obtained through the Owner's Representative if required.
