However, care should be taken to ensure that the soil is dry prior to pouring the foundation. Moisture that is trapped below the foundation can lead to the transmission of vapor through the floor slab resulting in condensation on the floor slab and building frame. Provided that care is taken to ensure that the underlying soil is dry, the vapor barrier should not be necessary for your foundation.
