HomeMy WebLinkAboutBroadband Brand 2022-08-03Broadband Branding What is a brand? A brand is simply a statement of who you are and what you can do for someone. It is more than just at logo; What is a brand? Vision Values Distinction It is a clear story. It represents our vision, our values, it’s what sets us apart. We partnered with a BYU-Idaho group of students led by Shawn Randall. Over the course of 12 weeks, we (predominantly Paul Sorensen, Daniel Torres, and myself) shared our vision of broadband with them. We educated them on what fiber and broadband is and isn’t. We helped guide their creative processes in a direction that felt appropriate for the City of Rexburg and Madison County. Light is a reference to fiber optics. Bridge stems from the result of families having a reliable and fast connection to the Internet. It is building a bridge between families and information, a bridge between customers and businesses. It is bridging the gap between no choice and having a variety of Internet provider options. In addition, it is a metaphor for the city and county working together on this community broadband project. Keep us focused on our goal Set customer expectations Aids in marketing Why do we need a “brand” for our fiber project? Keep “us” focused on our goal Me, counsel, Silverstar, WideOpen Networks, Dry Creek, Western Mountain and other contractors… to make reliable fiber and a choice of providers available to every address in the City and Madison County It helps set expectations for the customers Aids in marketing to providers Blackfoot Telecommunications is a local provider The only way for them to provide services to many customers is by leasing lines from another provider. The quality of the services was dependant on the other provider. Blackfoot is a good company with some quality service. We can elevate that level of service by providing them a reliable road. Not just Internet from Blackfoot, but Internet from Blackfoot across the Lightbridge network. That sends a powerful message! What is a Brand Guide? Illustrates how the brand should and should not be used. What fonts and colors are appropriate. What images are appropriate and how they should be used in media, particularly in conjunction with the logo. Action The broadband board is recommending this brand and style guide be approved by you so we can pass it along to WideOpen Networks and other marketing firms if necessary.
