GENERAL NOTES1.FOR ALL OF THE UTILITY LOCATES CONTRACTOR SHALL CALL DIG-LINE AT 1-800-342-1585 TOLOCATE ALL EXISTING UTILITIES PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION AND SHALL NOTIFY ENGINEER OF ANYCONFLICTS BETWEEN UTILITIES AND PLANS. FOR LOCATES OF IDAHO STATE UNIVERSITY UTILITIESCALL ISU PROJECT MANAGER, COLE ELQUIST, AT 208-282-2472.2.ALL WORK SHALL BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS.3.A PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING WILL BE HELD PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF WORK, ALLCONTRACTORS, SUBCONTRACTORS, AND/OR UTILITY CONTRACTORS, REQUIRED AGENCYPERSONNEL, AND THE OWNER'S ENGINEER SHALL BE PRESENT.4.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE ALL OBSTRUCTIONS, BOTH ABOVE AND BELOW GROUND, ASREQUIRED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS.5.ALL CONTRACTORS WORKING WITHIN THE PROJECT BOUNDARIES ARE RESPONSIBLE FORCOMPLIANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE SAFETY LAWS OF ANY JURISDICTIONAL BODY. THECONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL BARRICADES, SAFETY DEVICES AND CONTROLOF TRAFFIC WITHIN THE CONSTRUCTION AREA. TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL SHALL CONFORMTO THE MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES.6.ALL MATERIALS FURNISHED FOR THE PROJECT MUST MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THEAPPROVING AGENCIES OR AS SET FORTH HEREIN, WHICHEVER IS MORE RESTRICTIVE.CONTRACTORS MUST FURNISH PROOF THAT ALL MATERIALS INSTALLED ON THIS PROJECT MEETTHESE REQUIREMENTS AT THE REQUEST OF THE AGENCY, THE ENGINEER, AND OWNER.7.THE LOCATIONS OF EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES ARE SHOWN IN AN APPROXIMATE WAYONLY. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DETERMINE THE EXACT LOCATION OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIESBEFORE COMMENCING WORK. HE AGREES TO BE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AND ALLDAMAGES THAT MIGHT BE OCCASIONED BY HIS FAILURE TO EXACTLY LOCATE AND PRESERVE ANYAND ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITIES.8.ALL CONTRACTORS WORKING WITHIN THE PROJECT BOUNDARIES SHALL NOTIFY CITY OFPOCATELLO AND IDAHO STATE UNIVERSITY OF ANY TESTING AND ANY UTILITY INTERRUPTIONS ORPLANNED OUTAGES AT LEAST 48 HOURS PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION.9.ALL COSTS TO THE CONTRACTOR INCURRED IN CORRECTING DEFICIENT WORK SHALL BE TO THECONTRACTORS ACCOUNT.10.WORK SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY ANY AGENCY MUST BE INSPECTED AND APPROVED PRIOR TO (A)PLACING OF CONCRETE, (B) PLACING OF AGGREGATE BASE, (C) PLACING OF ASPHALT PAVING, AND(D) BACKFILLING TRENCHES FOR PIPE. WORK DONE WITHOUT SUCH APPROVAL SHALL NOTRELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR FROM THE RESPONSIBILITY OF PERFORMING THE WORK IN ANACCEPTABLE MANNER.11.ALL MATERIAL PLACED AS FILL OR BACKFILL SHALL BE PLACED AND COMPACTED IN ACCORDANCEWITH THE SPECIFICATIONS.12.MISCELLANEOUS SMALL STRUCTURES SUCH AS FENCING, MAILBOXES, SIGNS, PARKING CURBSTOPS, IRRIGATION AND DRAINAGE FACILITIES, UTILITY POLES, LINES, AND APPURTENANCES,WHEN NECESSARY TO REMOVE OR DISTURB, SHALL BE REPLACED OR RECONSTRUCTED TO EQUALOR BETTER THAN THEIR CONDITION PRIOR TO DISTURBANCE AT CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE.13.WHEN DISCREPANCIES OCCUR BETWEEN SPECIFICATIONS, OR SHEETS IN THE PLANS, THECONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE ENGINEER. UNTIMELY NOTIFICATION SHALLNEGATE ANY CONTRACTOR'S CLAIM FOR ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION.14.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SECURING SOURCES FOR GRANULAR MATERIALS,WATER, WASTE SITES, AND ANY OTHER MATERIALS SOURCES AS REQUIRED FOR PROJECTCOMPLETION.15.CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE & RETAIN EVIDENCE OF ALL PERMITS PERTAINING TO THE CLEARINGAND GRUBBING OF THE SITE.16.OWNER WILL HIRE A MATERIALS TESTING FIRM TO PROVIDE ALL TESTING NECESSARY TO COMPLYWITH THE SPECIFICATIONS. SUCH TESTS SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE ENGINEER.17.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL INSPECTIONS WITH THE ENGINEER OF RECORD, CITYOF POCATELLO, AND IDAHO STATE UNIVERSITY. THE ENGINEER AND UNIVERSITY SHALL BENOTIFIED TO INSPECT: 1) REBAR, 2) FILL MATERIAL, STRUCTURAL AND NON-STRUCTURAL, 3) PIPING.18.ACCEPTANCE OF ALL IMPROVEMENTS BY THE OWNER SHALL CONSTITUTE SUBSTANTIALCOMPLETION OF THIS PROJECT.19.WITHIN 2 WEEKS AFTER THE COMPLETION OF WORK, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT A SET OFAS-BUILT PLANS TO THE ENGINEER.20.ISU IS A SMOKE-FREE CAMPUS. SMOKING IS PROHIBITED ON ALL PROPERTY WHOLLY OWNED,LEASED OR OPERATED BY ISU.21.IT IS THE CONTRACTORS RESPONSIBILITY TO OBTAIN APPLICABLE PARKING PERMITS FOR ALLCONTRACTOR OWNED VEHICLES ON CAMPUS PARKING. PERMITS MAY BE OBTAINED FROM THEDEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY.
