My name is J'lene Lawrence Schick. I am the oldest living daughter of Weston and Lila
Lawrence. Change is forever around us. Growing up, we absolutely loved our home on the
property which was Rural Route #1, then 785 South 5th West, and now is 795 South 5th
West. We loved how Jeppesen's field to the north of us was either alfalfa or wheat and their
house, barn and silo were our closest neighbors to the north. We had no neighbors across
the street to the west. Merle and Marion Stephens lived a little bit to the north and west.
The road in front of our house was a gravel road and I had many a mishap on my bike on the
gravel road and still have dirt in my knees to show for falling so many times. We loved the
feel of our home in the "country."
Then, the road was widened and paved. Houses were built in the field across the street and
also to the south of our home. The Jeppesen's property was sold, their home and out
buildings torn down and the Hyde Park apartments were built. Then more homes were torn
down and many more apartments were built to the west and south.
Change is inevitable wherever you live. Sometimes it is hard see but that is part of life. We
didn't make the decision to sell to Will Wade in haste. We took our time and weighed all the
options. We waited until all five of the surviving siblings were on the same page and
carefully decided on the decision. Will Wade is a responsible and honest developer and we
like how he wants to build townhomes for more permanent residency than apartments. He
is willing to put his intentions in writing and he seems more than willing to do whatever he
needs to do to help move this along. We, as siblings, are in favor of supporting Will Wade in
the decision to move ahead with his plans for the property.
Sincerely,
J'lene Lawrence Schick
