HomeMy WebLinkAboutPLANS - 22-00163 - BYUI University Operations Bld - Chiller Replacement1.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN ALL EXISTING DRAINAGE FACILITIES WITHIN THE CONSTRUCTION AREA UNTIL THE DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS ARE IN PLACE AND FUNCTIONING. 2.ON SLOPING AREAS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO MITIGATE ANY POSSIBLE EROSION PROBLEMS IN TRENCHES DUE TO STORM WATER THAT MIGHT OCCUR DURING OR AFTER CONSTRUCTION AS DIRECTED OR APPROVED BY ENGINEER. 3.DURING CONSTRUCTION; THE CONTRACTOR IS FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR INTERIM PROVISIONS FOR PASSAGE OF IRRIGATION AND STORM WATER. NO SUPPLEMENTAL COMPENSATION WILL BE MADE FOR WET CONDITIONS OR FLOW DIVERSIONS. 4.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL AND MAINTAIN ALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES AS DETAILED IN THE PROJECT PLANS UNTIL FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THIS PROJECT. 5.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO BE REQUIRED TO TAKE ALL PRECAUTIONS NECESSARY TO INSURE THAT NO STORM WATER/SEDIMENT AND/OR CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS ARE RELEASED FROM THE SITE. ANY RELEASES SHALL BE CLEANED AND MITIGATED AT CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE. 6.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN A COPY OF THE STORMWATER POLLUTION PROTECTION PLAN ON SITE AT ALL TIMES. 7.THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL CONDUCT SITE EROSION CONTROL INSPECTIONS EVERY 14 DAYS. 8.ANY DUST GENERATED FROM SITE CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE CONTROLLED BY SPRAYING WATER AND DUST CONTROL POLYMERS AS NEEDED. 1.EXISTING A.C. PAVEMENT SHALL BE SAW CUT TO A NEAT STRAIGHT LINE PARALLEL OR PERPENDICULAR TO THE STREET CENTERLINE, CLOSEST ADJACENT CURB, OR THE NEW STEAM LINE TRENCH AND THE EXPOSED EDGE SHALL BE TACKED WITH EMULSION PRIOR TO PAVING. 2.IF ANY UTILITY OR IRRIGATION FACILITY INTERFERES WITH REQUIRED STREET IMPROVEMENTS, ALL SUCH UTILITIES OR IRRIGATION FACILITIES WILL BE RELOCATED AS TO NOT INTERFERE WITH REQUIRED STREET IMPROVEMENTS AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. 3.THE PAVING CONTRACTOR SHALL SET THE GRADE AND POUR CONCRETE COLLARS FOR THE CHILLED WATER VALVE BOXES PER DETAIL A3/C-501. ALL CONCRETE COLLARS TO BE FLUSH WITH SURFACE. 4.CONTRACTOR IS TO RE-STRIPE ALL PARKING LOT STALLS LOCTED IN PARKING LOTS & ALONG STREET IN AREAS AFFECTED BY PROJECT. STREET & PARKING STORM & EROSION CONTROL 1.FOR ALL OF THE UTILITY LOCATES, CONTRACTOR SHALL CALL DIG-LINE AT 1-800-342-1585 TO LOCATE ALL EXISTING UTILITIES PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION AND SHALL NOTIFY ENGINEER OF ANY CONFLICTS BETWEEN UTILITIES AND PLANS. 2.ALL WORK SHALL BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SUPPLIED PROJECT DOCUMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND/OR REQUIREMENTS. 3.A PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING WILL BE HELD PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF WORK, ALL CONTRACTORS, SUBCONTRACTORS, AND/OR UTILITY CONTRACTORS, REQUIRED AGENCY PERSONNEL, AND THE OWNER'S ENGINEER SHALL BE PRESENT. 4.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE ALL OBSTRUCTIONS, BOTH ABOVE AND BELOW GROUND, AS REQUIRED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS. THIS SHALL INCLUDE CLEARING AND GRUBBING WHICH CONSISTS OF CLEARING THE GROUND SURFACE OF ALL TREES, STUMPS, BRUSH, UNDERGROWTH, HEDGES, HEAVY GROWTH OF GRASS OR WEEDS, FENCES, STRUCTURES, DEBRIS, RUBBISH, AND SUCH MATERIAL, WHICH IN THE OPINION OF THE ENGINEER, IS UNSUITABLE FOR THE FOUNDATION OF PAVEMENTS. ALL MATERIAL NOT SUITABLE FOR FUTURE USE ON SITE SHALL BE DISPOSED OF OFF SITE. 5.THE OWNER'S SURVEYOR WILL SET CERTAIN CONTROL POINTS WHICH ARE CRITICAL TO THE CONSTRUCTION STAKING OF THE PROJECT. THESE POINTS WILL BE DESIGNATED AT THE TIME THEY ARE SET AND THE CONTRACTOR SO NOTIFIED. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING CONTROL POINTS FOR DURATION OF THE PROJECT AFTER INITIAL SETTING AND WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR RE-ESTABLISHING ANY PROJECT CONTROL POINTS THEREAFTER. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CONSTRUCTION STAKING. 6.ALL CONTRACTORS WORKING WITHIN THE PROJECT BOUNDARIES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLIANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE SAFETY LAWS OF ANY JURISDICTIONAL BODY. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL BARRICADES, SAFETY DEVICES AND CONTROL OF TRAFFIC WITHIN THE CONSTRUCTION AREA. 7.ALL MATERIALS FURNISHED FOR THE PROJECT MUST MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE APPROVING AGENCIES OR AS SET FORTH HEREIN, WHICHEVER IS MORE RESTRICTIVE. CONTRACTORS MUST FURNISH PROOF THAT ALL MATERIALS INSTALLED ON THIS PROJECT MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS AT THE REQUEST OF THE AGENCY, THE ENGINEER, AND OWNER. 8.THE LOCATIONS OF EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES ARE SHOWN IN AN APPROXIMATE WAY ONLY. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DETERMINE THE EXACT LOCATION OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES BEFORE COMMENCING WORK. HE AGREES TO BE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGES THAT MIGHT BE OCCASIONED BY HIS FAILURE TO EXACTLY LOCATE AND PRESERVE ANY AND ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITIES. 9.ALL WORK IS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. 10.ALL COSTS TO THE CONTRACTOR INCURRED IN CORRECTING DEFICIENT WORK SHALL BE TO THE CONTRACTORS ACCOUNT. 11.THE CONTRACTOR IS TO FIELD VERIFY ALL EXISTING CURB & GUTTER, STORM DRAIN, CHANNEL CROSSINGS AND SEWER ELEVATIONS OR INVERTS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION AND NOTIFY THE ENGINEER WHEN ELEVATIONS OR INVERTS DO NOT MATCH PLANS. 12.WORK SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY ANY AGENCY MUST BE INSPECTED AND APPROVED PRIOR TO (A) PLACING OF CONCRETE, (B) PLACING OF AGGREGATE BASE, (C) PLACING OF ASPHALT PAVING, AND (D) BACKFILLING TRENCHES FOR PIPE. WORK DONE WITHOUT SUCH APPROVAL SHALL NOT RELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR FROM THE RESPONSIBILITY OF PERFORMING THE WORK IN AN ACCEPTABLE MANNER. 13.AFTER ALL UTILITIES ARE INSTALLED AND PRIOR TO PAVING, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REQUEST A UTILITY WALK-THRU WITH THE OWNER AND ENGINEER TO FINALIZE UTILITY WORK. 14.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL INSPECTIONS WITH THE ENGINEER OF RECORD. THE ENGINEER SHALL BE NOTIFIED TO INSPECT: 1) CHILLED WATER PRIOR TO BACKFILLING, 2) CURB & GUTTER AND FORMS PRIOR TO POURING. 15.ALL MATERIAL PLACED AS FILL OR BACKFILL SHALL BE PLACED AND COMPACTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SUPPLIED PROJECT DOCUMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS. 16.MISCELLANEOUS SMALL STRUCTURES SUCH AS FENCING, MAILBOXES, SIGNS, IRRIGATION AND DRAINAGE FACILITIES, AND UTILITY POLES, LINES AND APPURTENANCES WHEN NECESSARY TO REMOVE OR DISTURB, SHALL BE REPLACED OR RECONSTRUCTED TO EQUAL OR BETTER THAN THEIR CONDITION PRIOR TO DISTURBANCE AT CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE. 17.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SECURING SOURCES FOR GRANULAR MATERIALS, WATER, WASTE SITES, AND ANY OTHER MATERIALS SOURCES AS REQUIRED FOR PROJECT COMPLETION. 18.CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE & RETAIN EVIDENCE OF ALL PERMITS PERTAINING TO THE CLEARING AND GRUBBING OF THE SITE. 19.OWNER WILL HIRE A MATERIALS TESTING FIRM TO PROVIDE ALL TESTING NECESSARY TO COMPLY WITH WITH THE SUPPLIED PROJECT DOCUMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS. SUCH TESTS SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE ENGINEER. 20.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING UTILITIES WITH THE APPROPRIATE BYU-IDAHO PERSONNEL. 21.WITHIN 2 WEEKS AFTER THE COMPLETION OF WORK, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT A SET OF AS-BUILT PLANS TO THE ENGINEER. 22.ALL PROPOSED POWER SHOWN HEREIN ARE FOR REFERENCE ONLY. SEE ELECTRICAL DRAWINGS FOR ELECTRICAL DESIGN AND CONFIGURATION. 23.ALL PROPOSED STEAM AND CONDENSATE IMPROVEMENTS SHOWN HERE IN ARE FOR REFERENCE ONLY. SEE MECHANICAL DRAWINGS FOR DESIGN AND CONFIGURATION. 24.ALL PARKING, STOP, TRAFFIC, PEDESTRIAN, OR OTHER SIGNS AND MONUMENTS WITHIN THE PROJECT LIMITS WILL BE REMOVED, STORED, AND REINSTALLED BY THE CONTRACTOR. 25.CONCRETE WASHOUT TO OCCUR OFF SITE AT A DESIGNATED WASHOUT AREA. DESIGNATED WASHOUT AREA TO BE PROVIDED BY OWNER. TRAFFIC CONTROL 1.PRIOR TO START OF WORK, CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT A TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE "MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES" TO BE APPROVED BY BYU-IDAHO AND THE ENGINEER. 2.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN A MINIMUM ONE LANE OF THROUGH TRAFFIC AT ALL TIMES. 3.ALL CONSTRUCTION SIGNS, BARRICADES, CONES AND DRUMS IN PLACE DURING HOURS OF DARKNESS SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM OF ITD CLASS "B" REFLECTIVE SHEETING. 4.ALL CONSTRUCTION WARNING SIGNS SHALL HAVE TWO WARNING FLAGS. WARNING SIGNS IN PLACE DURING HOURS OF DARKNESS SHALL HAVE BATTERY OPERATED FLASHING WARNING LIGHTS IN ADDITION TO FLAGS. 5.ALL CONSTRUCTION SIGNING AND TRAFFIC CONTROLS WILL CONFORM TO THE LATEST EDITION OF THE MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES. 6.USE EXTREME CARE IN SITING CONSTRUCTION SIGNS SO AS NOT TO BLOCK OR OBSCURE ANY OTHER TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNS FROM VIEW OF THE TRAVELING PUBLIC.
