I am concerned that current and potential future property owners on the parcel of land in question are not from this area and not concerned with the look and feel of our community. There is word of a potential tiny home community in this area which is against the look, feel, and present configuration of the Hidden Valley Neighborhood. Even higher density development than what currently exists goes against what homeowners in our neighborhood specifically purchased homes in this neighborhood for. Of additional concern is the history of flooding in the Hidden Valley neighborhood. Putting higher density homes with significant impermeable surfaces (roads, roofs, and driveways) would create a huge potential for property destruction in homes below the potential development if major stormwater management systems were not property designed and installed. An effort to rezone to higher density only gets us closer to these potential problems. We are concerned the city may not be accurately considering this liability. I ask the city council, mayor, planning and zoning committee members, and city planners to stand with us, as long-time members of the community, in approving plans and zoning policy that maintains the neighborhood look and feel we purchased into. There is no doubt a need for higher density housing and affordable housing neighborhoods. Purchasing a home is a major life step towards economic and financial security. There are many other areas of Rexburg that could better accommodate higher density housing and even tiny homes, if that is indeed desired. Please consider a forward and long-term aesthetic view of how and where development happens in our great city. Please stand for us as priority over developers and landowners that may not have the best interested of our neighborhood in mind. Sincerely, Skyler C. Westergard
