Ridge Ave Suite 113 Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402 Attentiono.a Subject..0 Dear Robert; Hotel Idamont OnMonday January 5, 2009 I visisted the Hotel Idamont building in Rexburg Idaho to observe the existing ceding joists. I understand that in some areas the ceiling will need to support an additional layer of 5/811 Gypsum board for fire reasons, The typical floor framing is made up of 2 %x" wide by IS V21' deep rough sawn joists spayed at 1611) ox. Some of the ceiling assemblies will be attached directly to the floorjoists and some will be dowered ceilings with ceiling joists or suspended furring. The existing framing for the upper floor is more than adequate for the additional loads to be added to the ceiling below. The ceiling may be attached directly to the joists or suspended from them. In the instances where the ceiling assembly will be attached to eeilng joists, the attached table should be followed: Ceflina Framin 2x4 Joists at I6" o.c. (2) 2x4 Joists at 16" O. c. 2x6 Joists at 16W -q-5 o.c. 1075 - V- - 0 '0 I P M The ceiiing joists may span from wall t(:) wall or they may be suspended from the floor-oists above at the contract, ors discretionO The addition of the 5/8"gypboard ceiiing should not affect the overall structural integrity, of the existing building. Please contact me if you have any further questions or concerns. Sincerely, Chris Zweifel, P.E., S.E. CZ Engineering, P.A. AOt 136 So.
