PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 INSTALLATION OF SEALANT
A. Applications,. Use sealant for simple fire rated
wall and floor penetrations, including conduit or
pipe through sleeves and firms rated expansion
joints.
B. Preparation: Inspect surfaces to be sealed to
establish that they are clan, dry, sound, and
frost--free.
1. Metal and Glass Surfaces. Clean w�.th cloth
saturated with non -alcohol solvent in
accordance with label i"nstructi, ons,
2. Priming: Test sealant adhesion to each
substrate material. Apply primer to any
surf ace showing poor adhesion.
3. Exposed Seals : Use masking tape to cover
finished substrate adjacent to sealant.

m-ineral salvents, fallowing instructions an

2. A material list shall be submitted stating whether the
materials proposed are as specified or are substitutions.
Contractor shall review and mark submittals prior to
submitt.�ng in order to makes sure that submittals comply with
specifications to his understanding. The submittals shall be
complete for the first submission andnot sent through in
piecemeal fashion, as far as practical.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
1. The materials and equipment described in the Bid Documents
establish the standards and quality to be mei by any proposed
substitution. The term 'nor approved equal" means that the
product shall fulfill the function of the specified item and
be approved by the' Architect/ Engineer.
2. Requests for approval on products not specified must be
submitted to the Architect/Engineer at least ten( -10) days
before the bid opening. Na substitution should be considered
by the Contractor prier to bidding unless a written request

PIPE JOINTS:
1. Threaded Joints: Threads on iron pipe sire pipe shall be
standard taper pipes threads. When a pipe joint material is
used it shall be' applied only on male threads and such
materials shall be approved types, insoluble in water and non-
toxic. Cleanout 'Plugs and caps shall be lubricated with
water- insoluble, non --hardening material or tapes.
2• Welded. Use gas or electric -arc welding in accordance with
ASME Code for pressure piping.
3. Flanged Steel; Use factory cuto, asbestos -free, compressed
sheet ring gaskets, or equal. All flange fasteners shall be
