sheathing comply.ing as Exterior or Exposure I grade, as noted
NER-108. The sixcomponents n. i t of an adhesive polyisocyan u rat
insulation, mechanical fasteners, reinforcing mesh, a base coat and a
finish coat,
B. Materiaf1. Adhesive: at Dr it Sprint adhesive is a full t rmu-
Iat d water-based a. r k Copolymer that bonds Th rmax Quik -R insula-

water-resistant core gypsum sheathing and unpainted masonry. The
adhesive is tinted orange for product ident fi ati n and has a shelf life f
one year when stored in a coni dry location.
b. Dryvi# AP adhesive is a moisture -cure urethane construction adhe-
sive which may be used in glace of the Sprint adhesive. It has a shelf life
of one year when stared in a Gaal dry iQcation.
2. Insulation Board: The insulation hoard is Therma Quik -R Wall
Insulation, a Polisocyanurate mariufa turgid by The Celotex Corporation
with glassfiber mat fa er . The hard has a nominal density of 2.0 pounds
per cubic toot and is available Irk , /4, 1, 1112 and inch thicknesses.

3. Exterior Sheathings: The Dryvit Sprint system can be applied to
unpainted wood -based sheathings and to mirrimum 1l2-+nch-thiGk water-
resistant carp gypsum sheaving. The sheathing mast be installed (fl
accordance with the code. The Sprint system may then be mechanically
attached as described in Section it G 2 for ►rload framing or adhesively
attached as follows:
The adhesive is applied to the back side of the insulation board and
spread over the entire surface with a -notched trowel which produces
a 1/4 -inch -wide by 3/8 -inch -deep notch every 11 inches. The beard i
immediately pressed on to the substrate, slid into place and set. In addi-
tion
di -
tion to the adhesive, a minimum of eight mechanical fasteners and
wash-
ers as described in Section 11 B 3 are required for each 48 -Inch -wide b
-inch-long insulation board. The have coat, reinforcing mesh,
and fin-

i h coat are then applied as described for open -wood framing in Section
11 C L
4. Unpainted Masonry: Application of the system over unpainted e n-

must penetrate studs and tracks a minimum of inch. The base coat,
reinforcing mesh and finish coats are then applied in a fash ion Similar to
application over open -wood fr: in described in Section 11 C 2.
. Painted nnr : The insulation board is placed against the eemen-
tjti asurface and pilot holes drilied at 12 inches on center around the
board perimeter and vertically, and 16 inchas on center hri ontall . The
.L
board i thea fastened with Mini M' um .10 masonry anchors with la -
tic washers as described in Settlor 11 B 3.
Adequacy of fasteners in cementitious substrates i determined by a
proof -load test program involving fastener withdrawal from the substrate
in question. Testing must be conducted by ars independent testing labora-
tory. The average withdrawal strength, in pounds per square foot must be
sixtimesthe design wind pressure forte location in question. In no case
is the system permitted in locations requiring greaser than a 26 psf design
wind pressure.
minimum of five tests per program are required, with ro ult varyin
no more than 1 percent from the average. minimu r of 1 testi er r pro-
gram may be provided rearies of variation from the average,. For
masonry u b trate , 40 percent of the tests rust be run in masonry
joints.
The applicator most provide the building official with a certificate of
compliance concerning test results relating to load re ire in this
report. The base coat, reinforcing mesh and finish coats are then applied
in a fashion similar to application over unpainted masonry described in
Section 110 4. See Figure No. 1 for typical instaliation details.
ReportNo-4663
D. Control Joints: Horizontal control Joints are required at each floor
Brie inwood-framed construefion. The joints roust be installed as speci-
fled by the -architect, designer, builder r exterior coating manufacturer,
in n that order,
E. Wind Design: 1. General: Allowable transverse wird pressures
based on systems installed in accordance with this report, are set forth in
this section. Design of the wood and steel framing must also be consid-
ered. Maximum a4lowable deflection of structural wall components is
11240 of spay.
2. 1Nafltl Framing: When the system is applied to open -wood framing
or wood -based sheathings an framing as described in Section 11 C, a posi-
tive wind pressure tip to 40 pounds per square foot and negative pressure
up to 26 pounds per square float is allowed.
3. Steel Framing: When the system is applied to minimum No. 18
gage (0.0478) open -steed framing or solid sheathing on framing as
described in Section I! C, a positive wind pressure up #0 51 pounds per
square foot and negative pressure up to 26 pounds per square foot is
ailovred.
4, Concrete Or Concrete Masonry: Allowable cable wi rid pressure for the
system adhesively applied to concrete or concrete masonry walls a
described ire Section I I C 4 is 26 pounds per sq u'are foot positive or n-
tiVe.
F. Identification: Each container or package of material used as part of
the Dryvit Sprint system bears the name and tradernark of the manufac-
turer, the name of the product and expiration date. All Thermax Quik
wall insulation hoards are identified with the product name, manufactur-
er's
anufa tur-er' mine and/or trademark and the name and/os logo of Underwriters
Laboratories Inc, -4031) the quality control agency.
Ill. Evidenc Snb r ed. Data showing compliance with Acceptance
Criteriafor Fxter r Insulation and Fi ri h stems datedJanuary3,1993,
product brochures and installation instructions.
Findings
IV. Findings That the Dryvit SprintO Exterior Insulation and Finish
System described in this report complies t the 1991 Un for
Build-
W
ing Code, subject to the folfawing conditions:
. Construction is as set forth in this repiorl and the a uta instructions.
2. Insulation beard is separated from the building interior with a
thermal barrier complying with Section 1713 of the Inde.
3. Installation is 6y applicators approved by Oryvit Systems, Inc.
4. Installation is limited to exterior walls of Type V construction.
5. Installation cards as shown in Exhibits A and B must be com-
pleted by the EIFS applicator and the sealant installer and pres-
ented to the building official at the completion of each project.
fi. Walls must be braced in accordance with Section 2517 (g) of the
Cflde,
7• The local building of#icial may require a vapor barrier an the
warm side of the insulation,
