Concrete Found. l ll for Southerly Apartment Building
by Brookside Apartments
Dear Mr. Allcott,
This letter is to advise you that the concrete foundation walls of the
southerly apartment building of the Brookside 1 l l age Apartments were not
cured in accordance with Section 2605 of the Uniform Building Code Copy
attached). Specifically, it was not given the cold weather protection
required, nor was it kept in a "moist" Condition to assure adecruatewater
for the hydration of the cement. The concrete subcontractorr K B Concrete
of Rigby Idaho, was advised of the need to providel weather protection
for concrete on November 3, 1995# K B Concrete's subcontractor, who was
pouring the footings for the sub3ect building, was notified of the need
for cold weather protection during the later part of October.
As the weather has not been terribly cold, it is probablethat the
concrete in the subject foundation wa, l ill attain the design 3000 psi
strength. It will, however, be necessary that your concrete sub
contractor or you provide the necessary tests and documentation to
substantiate the fact that the concrete has reached the required strength..
We will need copies of the concrete pickets for the trucks delivering
concrete for the subject walls, verify whet her or not the concrete was
regular r "'high earl " concrete. We will also need the test
re u l of cork rete care or It iia=er" -tests on the concre 7te Surf ace
to verify that the concrete has, in fact, ac Wired the necessary
strength. The tests will need to be done by, and the test results
