Dear Mr. Christensen,
Apr1*130,_2001
While da ing awall-through in.Spection on this date at the McKay Library I
noticed there is a problem with the exiting from the testing center.
With an occupancy of approximately 22.0 peenspeensthe testmg center room is in
violation of proper exitzxg and egress standards as sed forth in the Uniform Fire and
Building Codes,. The northwest side exit doer from the room directs People to a hallway
where they must i=ediatel.y go th-rouprh anoe door to aeess a sei to the outside.
If a person proceeds too far dawn the hail they come to a locked door to the outside that
is only accessible with a fey or special code. Currently this arrangementis confusing and
potentially Bang
building.
Brous, especially with the locked access doors to the outside of the
In addition the painted exit signs do not meet the requuements of the Uniform
Fire Code. Exit signs must be lighted and visible at all times. The doors used as a.n exit
from the besting roan and the door to the stairwell should be a minmum of 44 inches
wide to serge the occupant lead, (Currently they are smaller}. Emergency ffiahtingis also
required m the hallway areas=
The exit gats persons must take from the northeast door of the testm'g center is
also lacking in proper est signs and emergency lighting.
phis situation needs to be rectified as soon as possible. If there are any questions
on the matter lease don't hesitate to contact me.
S incerely,
Chris Huskinson

Dear Mr. Chr*stensen,
.--I . 0-.,
April 30,. 2001
Whl doing a walk-thou inspection on this date at the McKay Library I
noticed there is a problems with the exxting from the testing center,,
With an occupancy of approximately 22U persons the testng censer room is in
violation of proper exiting and egress standards as set forth in the Uniform Fire and
Building Codes. The northwest side exit door from the roam directs people to a hallway
where they mush immediately go through another door to access a stairwell to the outside.
If a person proceeds too fay down the half they comae to a docked door to the outside that
is only accessible with a key or special code. Curren 1v phis arrag is confusing and
Potentially dangerous, especially with the locked access chars to the outside of the.
building.
In addition the painted exit signs do not meet the requirements of the Uno-rrxm.
Fire Code. Exit signs must be fiied and risible at a1 times. The do.rs used as an exit
from the test"ng room and the door to the stairwell should be a minimum of 44 inches
wide tO serve the occupant load. (Currently They are smaller). emergency lighting is also
required in the hallway areas.
The exit path persons must take from the northeast doer of the testing center is
also hacking in proper exit signs and emergency lighting.
This situation needs tc be retif ed as soon a p+osibie. If there are any questions
an the matter please don't hesftate to contact me.
S incerely,
Chris Huskinson.
