May 14, 2001
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,
I have no objection to the reconstruction of the Spori Building in its original
place but I do have hopes that a BIG parking lot is planned to go along with it. Having
worked in the Spori Building for 17 years I am aware that there is a desperate need for
a Parking Lot on the North side of campus. There was never any place for a faculty or
staff member or spouse to part to run a quick errand in the building. I feel a parking
lot may help alleviate some of those problems. Not only would it benefit the Spori
Building but also the Snow, Kirkham, and the Romney buildings but also the 4' and
15ffi Ward Chapel that the Music Department uses for classes. I feel this of a vital
importantance to the college. There is a definate shortage of parking on or around the
campus. Parking is getting less and less and the college is expecting additional growth.
I know that the people who live around the campus would like to be able to have some
parking space by their homes
I realize that landscaping is nice but we must recognize the need for parking on
the north side of campus. I have observed major traffic paths worn through the grass
from the side walk past the Clarke building and down to 2"d South and onto College
Avenue, so why not design a parking lot or two and let the students have their path
rather than the grounds people constantly trying to get the grass to grow.
Sincerely youfs,
Anita Williams
