FINDINGS OF FACT
FOR
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT
On April 3, 2001, Nick Baldwin on behalf of American Self Storage presented to the
Rexburg City Clerk a Request and Application for Conditional Use Permit on property
located at 1064 N. Salem Rd. in the City of Rexburg. Said Conditional Use Permit
would be for the purpose of building 140 self storage units.
2. On April 25, 2001, Nick Baldwin appeared before the Planning & Zoning Commission
for the City of Rexburg requesting a Conditional Use Permit on property located at 1064
N. Salem Rd for the purpose of building 140 self storage units. It was recommended that
this request should go to public hearing.
3. On April 30, 2001, the City Clerk sent the Notice of Public Hearing for publication in the
local newspaper on May 4 and May 18, 2001, posted a notice on the property and sent
notices to all property owners within 300 feet of the above mentioned property.
4. On May 23, 2001, Nick Baldwin appeared before the Planning & Zoning Commission for
the City of Rexburg on behalf of American Self Storage requesting a Conditional Use
Permit to build 140 self storage units on property located at 1064 N. Salem Rd. There
was no public comment. It was recommend by Planning & Zoning that this request be
approved for public hearing before the City Council.
5. On May 24, 2001, the City Clerk sent the Notice of Public Hearing for publication in the
local newspaper on June 4 and June 11, 2001, posted a notice on the property and sent
notices to all property owners within 300 feet of the above mentioned property.
6. On June 20, 2001, Nick Baldwin on behalf of American Self Storage appeared before the
City Council of the City of Rexburg requesting a Conditional Use Permit on property
located at 1064 N. Salem Rd. for the purpose of building 140 self storage units. There
was no public comment. It was determined that this property located in the Impact Zone
was a good location for American Self Storage to build storage units and was good use of
the land. It was moved that the Council take the recommendation of Planning & Zoning
and approve the requested Conditional Use Permit for building 140 self storage units.
