Subject: Important information regarding 12th W.
Dear Mr. Mayor and member's of the City Counsil,
This is Kathy Parson and I live across hwy 12th West from the Birch's
property.
I will make my response as brief as I can.
I appreciate greatly the work you and the rest of the Counsel try to do to
keep our beautiful Rexburg remain a place where we all want to live for the
remainder of our days as has been reiterated by my neighbors many times
before.
I completely agree with the words written by Leon, Sharee, Tammy,
Wanless, Doug, and many others.
In our opinion there is absolutely no reason why the Birch property needs to
be rezoned to a higher density than 1/2 acre lots, there are many other areas
being developed that can accommodate this.
One of my greatest concerns is the increased traffic that the massively
increased density in the middle of our one mile block would create, causing
the need to widen 12th west which would adversely affect our living
siltation as long term residence.
The argument I have heard over and over from the developer and the
planning and zoning is that there would be too much road noise from HWY
20 that no one would want to buy lots in that section.
HOWEVER! Comparing the distance from HWY 20 to the Meadows, and
the distance from the widened 12th west to my front door is not at all
"apples to apples ". I measured from the online gps and there is
approximately 140 feet with a large grass strip, a fence, and a road between
the "freeway" and the closest doorway in the Meadows to create space and a
sound barrier. Yet, the widened road on 12th west would reach 21 feet from
my front door with NO sound barrier, no fence, and no parking lane to
separate our front door from the "mini freeway" traffic, which would
remove our front entrance access.
Besides the large acreage we will loose from the Church south and across
our front lawn, a large storage building, as well as $1000.00s of dollars
worth of mature trees. We have MUCH to loose.
This is NOT OKAY with me or my family, or the other neighbors who's
frontage will be at risk. I was also told that we won't be allowed to put up a
solid fence, which logically means that the neighbors in the Willowbrook
area bordering 12th west will have to remove their existing solid back fences
as well.
We have lived in our home for over 38 years and that should have greater
consideration.
Thank you so much for listening to us, the residents of Rexburg.
Kathy Parson
