No. U1: The civil information given to the Contractors survey shows the buildings 2" larger in each
direction than the foundation plans. This is due to a 1" overhang of the brick all around
the buildings. The civil layout received by the surveyor indicates'the outside of brick
dimension. The Contractor's surveyor should "split the difference"'..
No. 02: The 18."' culvert at the NW corner of the site needs to he placed deeper. The invert at the
east end of the culvert needs to be at approximately the grade of the existing d -itch at
the east end of the culvert. The culvert should be graded'at a 5°fQ slope and the west end
should be raked for about 8 ft, to allow the water to flow out of the west end.
No. D3: Shop Drawing and Submittal Reviews have prompted the following minor revisions....
1. Refer to Wall Section IO/A6.5. The top of Stud Wal!/Truss Bearing elevation at the
Utility Rooms on the Rear of the townhouse unity is to be 11.0f - 5 1/2'• above the main
floor of the townhouse units. Change the 10?'- 9"' dimension to 10' - 5 1/2"'10
2. Refer to dwg. A3.2. Change the truss designations for truss types 3 & 4. Type TR3 will
change to TR4 and hype TR4 will change to TRI
3. Refer to column detail I/A3.2. Revise the Truss Bearing elevation to 24' - 0"' above the
first floor of the center units.
No. 04; The attached information was requested by the contractor. This information pertains to
Building #8 and the revision made by the Addendum #1 during the Kidding period.. See
attached ASI -4 dwg,"s #1 & #2.
No. DS: The attached drawing answers a question rased earlier by the contractor and pertains to
Building #5. See attached ASI -5 dwg. #1.

change will also affect Submittal #05-2, dwg. A131 at the upper right hand corner.

Na, a8: Resolution of framing questions..,
Item 1. Shear Wall Location: The location of shear wail hold -clowns at the furnace raom
closets are incorrectly shown on Addendum No. 1 sketches. Correct location is
the rear of the closets and over the bearing wall footing. See attached sketch
ASI -8-1.
Item 2, Center Shear Wall Hold -dawns: The center party wall is a shear wall on both
sides at the two lower levels and thus needs anchors at both ends, dee attached
sketch ASI -8-1. At exterior foundation wall, an alternate detail is included herein
which would eliminate the two Simpson hold-downs on the exteriorised of the
double shear wall
items 3. J Bolts: .]HS has reewed the use of a 7j8" x ." J boil for use with hold -dawns.
the capacity of the J bolt is not adequate for PHDS's or PHD6"s. Use 28r/1
deformed anchors as scheduled.
Idem 4. Wind Lift:
a. At bottom of walls, SPI's will not be required if wail sheathing laps past the
plate and is nailed to either the rim foist or wail studs below the floor system.
Suggest use of 9 ft, or 10 ft. long sheathing. Any horizontal joints in sheathing
panels which occur over the stud walks must be solid blocked for shear nailing.
b. At tap of wars, along the Truss bearing side, an H10 hard -dawn at each tress
and to the wall plates is adequate to transfer uplift load's into the waif below, The
H10 may be mounted at inside face of wall plates or at the exterior face. SP2-'s at
each stud palate is not necessary.
C. At the top of wally along the gable ends of the buildings, an SP2 hold-down
between plates and spud below is required due to extreme uplift loads.
4utloakers need to be attached to the plates with an HIO yr H7 as scheduled.
Item 5. Foundation Anchor Bolts: All wafts with sheathing are carrying some shear
loads. Thus, those wolfs need anchor bolts sized and spaced per the "Shear Wail
Schedule". The Shear Wail Schedule shows 5/8"' x 12"' AB at various spacings.
The drawings show the same and refer to the schedule for spacing except in two
cases.,. Wall section 7/A6.4 and Section 8/A6A, Wall Section 8/A6.4 agrees with
the Schedule at 48" o.c. At wail Section 7/A6.4 either the scheduled 5/8" x 12"' at
48" o,c, or the drawing 5/8"' x 10" at 32" v.c. may be used. At wolfs not shown
with sheathing, anchor baits shall be contractor standard 48" a.c_ and may
employ anchor devices other than bolts and may be 'Jz" diameter if desired.

No. 12: Observation #14 Issues...
Issue#1: FOUNDATWON WALL REPAIR. See attached sketch ASI42 #1 for repair of
"swaled" foundation walls.
Issue#2: DRAG STRUT SPLICING. A single drag strut option is offered if material is full
length. Two splicing options are shown. See attached sketch ASI -12 #2 & #2-A,
Issue#3: STAIR SKIRT STRINGER. Framing contractor discussed several construction
options at stair skirting. The attached sketch ASI -12 #3 shows agreed upon
option.
Issue#4: HEADER LOCATION. At Double Drag Strut, window header shall be located at
inside face of stud. See attached sketch ASI -12 #4.

The sheathing and nailing for the 18" x 1211 duct through the delta 22 shear wall should

would be 2_1" o.c, Add shot stud framing next to the duct if it is more than 4" to the

No. 14: 2. (Continued) nailing all around the opening. Avoid a rim joist splice above the return sir
area. The sheathing on the outside of the wolf should run up along the rim joist and be
nailed to it, A foist hanger at any joists that is over the duct should be used. Again, the
response to RFI -27 works for this opening too.
3. Dryer Vent at Bottom Floor Center Units.
Provide 2"' x approx. 24" furred area at the turner of the gantry #110 to allow the dryer
to pass behind the blocking in the wolf behind the W/D. The upper units should not be a
problem since the vent can drop dawn and doesn't have to pass behind the blacking.
4, Shower Curtain Rod Blocking.
Provide solid the 2 x 6 blocking at the end walls of the tub enclosures at outside edge of
shower where the god ends would be placed. Top of the blocking should be placed at 72""
AFF. (Nate: Please remember to insudate the delta 22 wars before installing the
sheathing on the backside.)
No. 15: The attached details wail clarify the construction of the corners of the gable and the raoFs
where they meet the soffits and the framing of the entry canopy soffits, See attached
details ASS -15-1 & ASI -15-2.
Na. 160 The attached drawings will give the elevations for the fence posts at the extreme east
end of the site. The elevations for the balance of the fence along the north side of the
site will follow as soon as possible. See attached drawing ASI -16-1.
No.. 1i: 1. The attached drawing shows elevations for the brick ledges at the brisk posts and the
wrought iron fence along the north side of the site. Drawing ASI -127-1 incorporates dwg.
ASS -1C-1 and corrects the elevation at the far eastern brick post. The fence follows a
straight slope along the north side of the site and is at a higher elevation than shown an
the construction documents. This reduces the amount of excavation, etc, at the fence
location. The fence has also been shortened by two posts and two wrought iron panels.
This is also a credit item to the project.
2. The concrete mow strip between the brick pasty will be set with the top at 6"" below
the brick ledge on the polis.
3. The sidewalk elevation will follow and be adjacent to the mow sfr;p. (6" below the
brick ledge at the posts)
4. The concrete foundations for the posts may rest on the existing lava rock. The lava
rock must be sound and solid. If the lava rock is above the tap of the post footing. The
concrete pier can utilize the lava rock in lieu of a footing. The vertical bars would than be
drilled and epoxied into the lava rock. The surface of the rock must be gleaned prior to
placing the concrete jest as where the building foundations rested directly on the rock.
