Subject:West Rexburg- Birch Property Zone Change
Importance: High
Dear Mayor Merrill,
I am writing this email letter to you, expressing my concern over a potential zone change to property near my
residence. I live on the west side of Widdison Lane on a 1 acre lot. At the time this was not part of the city. With
Annexation came some pro' and con's benefits that I have lived with over the years, but having my space is why I initially
chose to live here.
Growth has been expanding tremendously on the west side of town. I really love to see what has been coming out our
way and what potentially might be coming. Changes do not upset me as in my career there is constant change. Since
living here I have seen the Meadows develop, next came the Willowbrook subdivision, and the latest one Summerfield
and in between the new High School a few church buildings. Willowbrook is a really nice subdivision, as people enjoy
the rural like living on larger lots.
Those lots in Willowbrook are what I'm asking you to consider keeping as new/future subdivision (Birch property) is
proposed. When we were annexed some years back the bodies to be understood the importance of keeping the look
and feel of rural living and zoned this area accordingly. I ask you to strongly consider our life style of living on the west
side of Highway 20 and reject the P&Z decision to condense building lots and allow residents, like ourselves, the
opportunity to enjoy what we also enjoy.
Sincerely,
Doug Thompson
1053 Widdison Lane
P.S. Just as a follow up concern:
If the bodies to be decide in favor of the P&Z decisions—road congestion (widening 12th Street or adding another
corridor into the city) should be addressed immediately before allowing more condensed subdivisions to be developed.
