Although You may not be aware, The City of Rexburg reqUires that all properties receive a Certificate of Occupancy before being occupied. Section 11Q of the International Residential Code stats "No building or structure shall be Used Or ocCLipied, and no change iii the existing occupancy classification of a building or structure or portion thereof shall be mace iint'[I the Building Official has issued'a certificate of occupancy therefore as provided herein. Issuance of a certificate of occupancy shall not be construed as an approval of a violation of the provisions of this code or of other ordinances of the jurisdiction." Furthermore, the Rexburg Building Department files indicate that a Certificate of Occupancy was never issued. The file for the property located at 162 Hidden Valley Road contains inspection documents that are incomplete; there are several ❑LIt standing and noncompliant issues. On September 12, 2008 Building inspector Quintan Owens and myself bode ConlPliance Officer 1VataIie Powell mads an appointment with your renter Cindy Stray to verify whether or not the outstanding safety issues had [peen resolved. We inspected the property anId found that the outstanding items listed on the last inspection, dated May 29, 2008, have not been resolved. Consequently, we ask that within 30 days you make arrangements to have said property inspected for compliance. [ have provided with this letter a copy of the outstanding items that will need to be addressed before a Certificate of occupancy will be !SSL[ed for your property.
