Dear Commission:
This letter is written in response to the proposed zoning changes for the property located at
approximately 75 South First West in Rexburg as put forth in your Notice of Public Hearing
published August 23, 2000 (letter attached).
I am strongly opposed to any zoning change that would increase the number of housing units without
an attendant increase in the number of "on-site/off-street" parking places.
I own an office building at 90 South First West where Edward Jones is located and I requested angle
parking to increase my parking spaces, to which I was told that no more angled parking would be
allowed in Rexburg. If you allow this zoning change without increasing the parking places required,
it will force renters, visitors or employees to park on the street, which is already being taxed to the
full extent. It will be difficult to find business renters for my office building if no parking is
available on the street.
I also feel this is an important issue as the old Broulim's as reported will be used by 200 plus
employees, which is next to this property, if I am not mistaken. Please make sure more than enough
parking is required on site before any zoning change to a higher density is approved.
Thank you for your consideration. It is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Steven J Hart, CPA
