City Council gives go-ahead
for large apartment complex
The Rexburg City Council
approved Eaglewood Enter-
prises'request for a zone change
for student housing at Seventh
South and Third East despite
some neighbors' concerns.
Keith Romney, owner of the
Salt Lake City -based company,
asked to change the area from
Medium Density Residential
area to a High -Density Residen-
tial area for a complex that
could eventually house more
than 750 students.
The plans call for seven
three-story buildings that would
each house 18 apartments, with
six single students in each
apartment, Romney says.
There will also be a clubhouse
with a computer room, a pian

some land surrounding the pro-
posed complex, on which he says
he may build duplexes or four-

cil's regular meeting Wednes-
day.
After it was tabled, the issue
went back to the Rexburg Plan-
ning and Zoning Commission
and was returned with a recom-
mendation to approve the
change. Council members Kay
Beck, Glen Pond, Marsha
Bjornn, Donna Benfield and
Paul Pugmire voted for the
change. Councilman Nyle Full-
mer voted against it.
