The detail of the separation wall on Sheet No.
A6.0 identifies 7116" OSI3 or 1J2 inch drywall as
the attic separation. With this configuration, the
ceiling becomes the fire separation and all
openings in it must be rated. If 518 Type X
drywall is used for attic separatian, then the
ceding can be penetrated with non -raked items
such as heat boots connected to flexible ducks.
If it is your intent to use all steel ducting (2C
gauge and larger for ducts over 6" in size) and
raked light and electrical foxes, then the
configuration shown is adequate. Also on the
same detail (#2) a double rim is identified. The
joist manufacture's literature requires a double
rim as identified in the detail. The detail,
however, does not identify what material is to
be used for the rim. Solid rim material must be
used.
