Dear Mr. Greaves

Dirk Kempthorne, Governor
C. Stephen Allred, Director
We have reviewed the plans and specifications for the proposed water, sewer and storm drain design. The project
plans and specifications appear to meet State standards and are hereby approved with the following conditions:
1. The City of Rexburg will need to provided this office with an approval letter allowing the sanitary
sewer lines to be installed at a slope less than the state min requirement and show that the 2.0 fps
velocities at full pipe full can still be maintained (Manning n=0.01 min). The City will need to see that
these lines are flushed and maintained clean. Must meet requirement in Recommended Standards for
Wastewater Facilities section 33.42.
2. A will serve letter from the City of Rexburg Will also be Required.
3. Temporary Best Management Practices (BMPs) will be required for the temporary stormwater
infiltration trenches. Reference: Catalog of Stormwater Best Management Practices #39 vegetative
filtration and #43 infiltration trench with geotextile fabric. The proposed infiltration trench would be
acceptable if a geotextile fabric is place between the soil/rock fllter interface.
Our approval is for the design. We will give final project approval after the systems are constructed. Deviations
from the approved design that might result in violations of Idaho Regulations must be reviewed by this office before
field installation. This office must be kept informed of the scheduling of all construction phases so that we can make
spot inspections as necessary.
This approval will expire December 11, 2002. If construction is not complete by the expiration date, plans will need
to be resubmitted for approval before further construction proceeds. Within 30 days after construction, a
professional engineer registered in the State of Idaho must provide this office with as -built plans, or a letter of
certification stating that the project was installed substantially according to the approved design.
A copy of the approved design and specifications will be kept on file at this office. Please reference DEQ No. 01-
09-33 when submitting any future correspondence related to this project. If you have any questions regarding this
letter or if we can be of further assistance, please call me at (208) 528-2650.
