As can be noted on our drawings the loc3tion of the holdown is indicatLad with a triangle. If the hoedown ;s located around the corner, rather than as Ih1111Qwn, than the connection between the shear wall and the two continuous studs must be designed to transfer the uplift forearound the corner framingpanel (51100lbs.). Furthermore, from our conversation, the holdowns that were installed were not installed per the requirements of Simpson Strong -Tie. Both the current ho1down instaliatian and the holdown hardware are inadequate dor this building. The holdowns heed to be removed and the specified holdowns installed. Due to the installation of the incorrect holdown, care will have to he liven to provide the proper attachment of the correct holdown. The specified holdown uses Simpson SE)S wood screws �Laa screws are not � suitable substitute.), thus the holdown will have to be positioned sway frim the Egg screw holey that were drilled for the lncorrect holdown. Enclosed please find a copy of the holdown schedule that was provided with the contract drawings and a copy of the Simpson Strong -Te catafag showing the holdown that needs to be instalied.
