CHIMNEYS AND 'BENTS
MI802.2.2 Automatically operated. Automatically aper
aced dampers shall conform to UL 17 and be. installed in ac-
co�-dauce with the tez�ns of their listing and label. The
instaRatim �ha.I1 prevent firing of the burner when the
damper is not opened to a safe position.
M1802.3 Draft regulators. Draft regulators shall be provided
dor oil -fired applzzaxices required to be connected to a chimney.
Draft regulators provided for solid-fiuel-biamirng applic'mces to
reduce draft intensity shall be,� instilled and set in accordance
with the manufacLtu-er's installation instructions.
M1802.11 Location. Where required, draft regulatozs shall
be installed in the carne zoom or enclosure as the appliance
SO that no difference an pressure will exist between the au at
the regulator and the combustion air supply.

CHIMNEY AND VENT CONNECTORS
M1803ol General. Connectors shall be used to connect
fuel -burning appliances to a vertical chimney'ox vent ex -e
where the chimney or vend is attached directly to the appliance,:
M,1803.2 Connectors for oil and solid fuel apglianees. Con --
nectars for oil and solid -fuel -burning applian.ciff� shall be con-
structed of factory -built chimney maier�.al, Type. L vend
material or singly -wall metal pipe hamming resistance to cozTa-

in s talled in accordance with the manufactwrer's znsta.I].arion in-
s4-u.ctzons and within the space that the appliance is located.
Appliahces shall be located as close as practical to the vent or
chimney. Connectors shall be as short and straight as possible
and installed with a slope of not fess than Ifo inch (5.4 inm) rise
per faQi of rum.. Gonneetors shall be securely supported end
�oi�.ts shall he fastened uvit�a sheet ,cxieta� screws o� rivets. De-
vYces that obstruct the fl ow of flue gases shall not b e installed in
a connector unless listed and labeled or approved for such in-
stallations.,
M1803.3.1 Floor, ceffing and wall penetrations. A chim-
ney connector or vent connector shall not pass through any
RoOr or ceiling. A,'cbhim-ney connector or vent connector
shall not pass through a wall or partition unless the connec-
tor is listed and labeled for will pass-through, or is routed
through a device listed and labeled for w,ajZ pass,thraugh
and is installedain accordance with the conditions of its list-
ing and label. COnncctors for ail -fired appliances listed and
labeled for Type L vents, passing through wally or partitions
