community didn't have a c out vha% had haened with the sign oxdinance, and that they were not
compliance. What can we do to remedy this in the future? Businesses need toL be notified in some way that
a change is coming them way, so they are abbe to give input.
Chairman Dyer said it was the assumption that the citizens they gathered input from wexe also the business
owners. The. point is well taken that businesses should be more carefully cons idexed while tang inputm'
the future.
2. What is the proper channel to obtain a temporary sign permit? We need a more strean.lined process.
Chairman Dyer said although the ordinance states that the Planning & Zoning AdmiEdstrator has authority
over sign permits, the permits havc been issued through the Compliance Officer.
3. Thank you for the opportzu.ty to give my opuuon. Who decIdes what is right and what 1s wrong? `1h t

The Conir ssioners discus

4. Are there fees for a temporaq sign permit? The Pe,-tlmt application should state that the permit is ftee.
Chairman Dyer clarified that temporary sums peanuts ate free.
5. Is the GQ day time limit for each sign ox far the entre property fot all signs eve.y year
Chairman Dyer said the GQ day time bmit is for each sign individually. If another sign was put up, it would
have a separate pertmt.
Chairman Dyer asked for input from the Commissioners on the sign ordinance.
Thaine Robxnsvn said the Comt.ssivn is not opposed to empoxary sigwe just want to make se they are
pem-iitted and tempofnry. If the signs are supposed to be there for.2 ar3,years, people should put up a nicer sign.

we wiU meant to attract bu3ine5s that pay better than what We currently have. .In order fog them to do that,
they are going to have to have the xevenue and customer base. A Ion of that i's determined by signagc. The
p-roblern may not be the num.]aer of signs, but the quality of the signs.
2. Thete is a need for an oxdinance in the city, because there needs to be some control over signage. There
have been comments on haw much we need to control it, and who is iu control. Tb -tee suggested changes:
ft. Definition of a temporary sign: eithex define it or make it general enough to leave .it for

Na ctiterima are given to detern-Ane whether a particulat temporary sign is petmitted or not. It

Some businesses have signs that maybe up for longer than GSD days, but are not necessatAy permanen t. t
would be beneficial to them to have a category of signs to be up for longer than 64 days that are not
