G. i
Val.,
After our conversation I have gone through and documented our rating. Here is what i have found
The existing assembly is very similar to GA listed FC 5509 and FC 5510 whish is 1 hour rated. The
difference is that we have 5/8" — 3/4 " wood lath and plaster-.
It is also similar in calculation of fire resistance using code we can rate the existing assembly as:
Material Rating Code
Y4," Plywood subflaor 15 min IBC 721.5.x.4 Floors and Roofs and Fable
72I.6.2(4)
1x6 T&G wood subfloor 15 min 1BC 721.6.2.4 Floors and Roofs and Table
721-6.2(4)
Wood framing (2Y2" x 15" 10 min Table 113C 721.F.2(2}
joists)
5/8" Wood doth and plaster 17 min "Fire Ratings of Archaic Materials and
Assemblies"
Item code: F/C — W -- 27
Total 57 min
The thickness of the wood lath and plaster varies in locations throughaut the building. Someareasthe
assembly is closer to 7/S while others %z",
i would argue that the current assembly is a one hour assembly.
Recent additions to the building have added a Payer of suspended gypsum board.
The GA listing for FC 5724 shows a 2 hoer rated assembly similar to FC5509 but with added resilient
channel and an extra layer of gypsum board.
again the difference in the two is the resilient channel and (1) one layer of gypsum board.
Thus l propose that in those areas of the Hotel Idamont, where there is not a layer of gypsum board and
channel, that they be added or ars added one hour rated ceiling the assembly..
In those areas where there is a suspended gypsum board ceiling these ceilings should be classified as a
two hour rated assemblies already.
The air space between the suspended ceiling and the initial assembly is negligible. Any holes in the lath
and plaster will have to be patched and repaired.
will call to verify that this i's agreeable and that you have received this email.
manual with the mentioned assemblies are attached.
Thank you.
