I understand the health and safety concerns over this virus, but requiring residents and visitors to do anything forcibly is against our constitutional rights as well as breaks down the fabric of this community. This should not be a decision that is made by the federal, state or local government, this is a decision that should be made for the people by the people of this great country. This is a fundamental issue that in the last few years so called “leaders” in government think they have the right to make decisions about what is best for the people without the people being involved. There is a reason that our Founding Fathers created the constitution, it was to protect the people from a tyrannical government. The choice to wear or not to wear a face covering while in public should be the choice of the person, not the city or any other government . For those that feel more comfortable with wearing a mask they can make that choice, at the same time a person who does not feel the need to wear a mask should be able to do so without the worry of being penalized or badgered. As a business owner, fining, punishing and above all shutting down a business because patrons and employees feel they have a choice to not wear a face covering is erroneous! To fine or punish a resident personally is unacceptable, to punish a business for an individual's choice is absolutely unfathomable! We ask you as fellow Americans to stand up for your rights, and the rights of the residents of this wonderful community! I hope and assume this is an ordinance pushed by a few specific people on the City Council and not something that is actually a consideration, but felt the need to voice my opinion on it regardless.
