Please don't impose your beliefs about masks and COVID on them. I personally frequent our business's less now that the mask mandate is in force and I believe you will only hurt them more. I even worry about going in their business to give them business because they might get shut down! This doesn’t make sense and it’s not fair to them. I personally have a hard time wearing a mask. I am pregnant and it makes me ill. I try to wear one as long as I can until I get too sick and then I remove it. My husband works so getting to some business is hard as many close at 5pm. My six year old tried really hard to wear a mask, but it effects her ability to be in school. She told me she just can't do her math and other school work with it on. She is tiny and I would have homeschooled if a mask mandate would have been in place at the beginning. I also have family and friends and neighbors employed by the district and had a hard time not supporting them keeping their jobs. My 8 year old has a deviated septum and it makes it hard to breath in general, and so with a mask he can hardly breathe at all. Please also consider children are still developing speech through their 8th year, but for those with delayed speech it more negatively impacts as through masks their speech as the sound is very very different. Please also consider the health concern of hypercapnia not only in my children, but in all individuals. My daughter doesn't have a drs note, but it’s still a medical condition and it deeply effects her and I believe due to hypercapnia. I have asked several employees of several different stores in Rexburg if they have experienced any negative effects and most have reported headaches and have even been close to passing out at times. This isn't okay. We can't put our employees at risk of hypercapnia. Denmark is trying to publish a their findings after a controlled randomized study, but isn't being allowed to because it goes against most peoples rhetoric. Please understand this is controversial. "Science" right now says more than one thing. Drs. and health officials aren't agreed on this practice. Please don't let your person opinion mandate what you think should happen. Joe Biden's website says that the reason we have COVID is because of the fossil fuel emissions. So we should eliminate plastic, cars, etc because it will eliminate COVID? How come only COVID deaths matter, but any other death is okay? I know a woman who's mother has lost the ability to communicate during the shut down and we can't keep destroying lives because we are afraid. Yes it's bad, but it will spread despite masks. I know the disease is real, I know people who have died, I also know people that haven't died of COVID but were claimed to be COVID deaths in east Idaho. We can't be scared by case numbers, they only indicate testing. We must recognize deaths will happen and do what we can to not spread or go out when we are sick, but because my loved ones have been hospitalized or have died of the flu I don't get to shut down the world. COVID is the same. It's not going away and I don't believe the masks will stop it. Again though this is effecting my support of our local market.
