I know you are busy, and I won't take up too much of your time, but I honestly feel that our freedom and our rights are being disregarded as citizens of Rexburg, Idaho. I realize that the media and so many government officials feel the need to control the masses, especially here locally. Many people are upset that our level of Covid is increasing. But this really shouldn't be a fear or a concern that the government needs to interfere with. Below is a little bit of information about why the mask mandate is not beneficial for our city or our society. First of all, the CDC has actually posted a study back in September where they show that the high level of mask use is directly related to the high level of covid cases. They have taken random samples along with a controlled test group to see if they could use masks to decrease the spread of the covid-19 virus. Here are the results of that study. Here is the link to the study. https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/pdfs/mm6936a5-H.pdf Without any other details needed, you can see that the most infected population always, or almost always, wore a mask. The numbers increased for patients being infected with Covid in the control group by 10 more people being infected with covid from those who always wore a mask. Although the point of this study wasn't specifically for this, you can definitely see the relationship yourself with those who suffered from covid symptoms and those who wore religiously wore their masks. More than 88% of the control group were infected with covid and they either always wore their mask, or they most often wore a mask. This can be answered by several reasons. 1) The masks actually traps the virus: When we go out in public with the idea that the masks are protecting us, we need to think twice. As we are walking around breathing the air that everyone else has already had a turn with, we are actually personally sabotaging our chances of getting the virus more readily than those who are breathing free air (no mask). In the event that you happen to be in an area where the virus is prevalent, if you do breath in the virus and get lucky enough for it not to adhere to your lungs or throat tissue, your body automatically breathes out and can in a sense reject the virus without any issues. When wearing a mask, you will increase your chance of getting the virus stuck in your mask, either when you inhale or exhale. Thus, creating multiple opportunities to suck that same virus back in until it eventually adheres to your lung and throat tissue. 2) Even the N95 masks cannot filter Covid Virus: The filtration holes on a N95 mask, which is a surgeon grade masks, are not small enough to prevent the covid-19 virus from penetrating through the holes of the masks. The smallest holes of these masks are .3 microns, while the Covid virus is .1 microns, which is 66% smaller than what a N95 mask can block. With every breath, all viruses in the vicinity will be sucked through or onto the mask. Those that don't make it through the first breath can easily make it through any subsequent breaths. Not only that but all areas around the mask will vent at some degree which will constantly let the viruses in the area in. Which is good because it also lets the oxygen in and some of the carbon out. (Dr. Eric Berg DC, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-G8YT7xXTc <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-G8YT7xXTc> ) 3) Wearing a mask actually stresses our respiratory system which in turn weakens it: When we wear a mask, no matter how thick or thin, we are causing stress to our lungs which in turn can weaken our ability to fight off the virus. Overuse of the mask can actually break down our respiratory system, stressing our lungs and diaphragm. Every time we take a breath through a mask, we cause unneeded stress that eventually can take its toll on our respiratory health. It is worse for the elderly, but for those who are susceptible to asthma and other illnesses of the lungs, their overall health is compromised. See video Link above. 4) Wearing a mask increases how often we touch our face and eyes: Because of the nature of the mask, it causes a lot of issues to us as humans. Not only does it go up or down as we speak, it also rubs skin raw and can make different parts of our heads hear. Thus, people will touch their faces and eyes more because they are wearing the mask and its uncomfortable nature. Every touch to the face near the eyes, ears, mouth, and nose causes higher exposure to the virus. If you touch something and then touch your face or mask, you increase the risk of the virus being eventually inhaled through your breath if it is on the mask or being rubbed into one of your facial orifices. You are increasing your risk at a much higher rate than you would be if you were not wearing a mask and practiced good hygiene. 5) Wearing masks weakens our immune system. If you take the time to watch the video that I have attached from a link through my google drive you will learn that wearing a mask will actually weaken our bodies ability to fight off infection. (See video time 8:27). Our bodies were created to fight infection and build up our own immunity. When we constantly wear masks, our immunity falls as it is put in almost a dormant state because of the decrease level of oxygen in our body that feeds our white blood cells. Our body uses the white blood cells to fight infection, but when it doesn't receive adequate amounts of oxygen, they cannot work properly as they are weakened. Not only that, but the high level of carbon monoxide (which is .33 microns and larger than the filters of many masks) that is left in the mask, will build up causing headaches and other medical issues when masks are used for a high period of time. These side effects include, but are not limited to, headaches, rashes, acne, skin breakdown, impaired cognition, blood oxygenation can be lowered by 20% which can lead to death and lower immunity (which also in turn could lead to brain damage), CO2 intoxication, and death. In Sweden and also South Dakota, both locations have allowed the virus to naturally take its course and the outcome has been a bolster to both freedom and a healthy immunity. The study in Sweden shows that although there was a high number of cases throughout the country up through the end of July and beginning of August, the numbers have dwindled significantly now and are now becoming a rarity for the virus to infect the population. Not only was freedom of movement maintained, but herd immunity was reached, and medical procedures have also improved. Also, please look at the Covid numbers for South Dakota. In conclusion, I would like to leave you with a thought from President Ezra Taft Benson: Please recognize that we as citizens of Rexburg do not want to be forced into submission and feel that our freedom is at risk. We are fighting to maintain our freedoms given to us by our constitution. We are a God-fearing people, for those who are striving to fully live the gospel. I admonish you that if you continue down this road, that those who are willing to fight for freedom will take action and you may not still stay in your positions unless you are willing to stand for freedom as well. God will uphold the righteous but does let the righteous suffer so that his righteous judgements may fall upon the wicked in heart. I hope that you can have courage and stand up for our City against any wickedness coming from our State leadership. We see what is happening and we are tired of it. The mask mandate does not appear to be anything more than a power reach and patriots are becoming more and more motivated to stand for freedom. We hope you will stand with us. We hope you are the men and women that we thought you were when you were elected. He accuses Pahoran of joining the secret combinations of their day.
