Anyways I'm not a buisness owner in a brick and mortar store but I do run a business out of my home. I fully understand what these buisnesses are going through! Doing a mask ordinance I understand you feel that's the correct course if action to take. However I feel very strongly it will have a very negative effect on our businesses within the community. I'm not saying I'm totally against people wanting to wear masks but look masks are not 100% effective in stopping the spread of Covid 19 if you guys would do a little research there are plenty of studies out there that prove that! Masks are nothing more than away to make people conform to what the government wants it's called control. Being controlling in a dictatorship type way has never ended well for people either. Need to understand something very serious and heartfelt here some people within this community have serious or even minor health problems where they just simply CANNOT!! WEAR a mask! I feel by you guys discounting thier medical conditions and just imposing sanctions on people and buisnesses is morally and ethically wrong! Don't get me wrong I know Covid 19 is very really I'm not making light of it I've had family and friends that have worn masks and they have still gotten Covid 19 so that to me is proof masks are not effective from preventing it! We are coming upon the holidays people want to go Christmas shopping have some joy and happiness in our lives this time year to celebrate the holidays not feel like we're being controlled my a Nazi regime! I say loosen up a little let people live thier lives normally stop the conformaty stop the oppression that's going on. We have rights and freedoms in this country that does not include a mask ordinance to just control people that's all it is. Plus how are you going to enforce this ordinence have police at every single buisness around town have snitches that go around and tell on everyone because there not wearing a mask?! Come on you know how stupid and juvenile that is?! That might work for the college students which they need it more than your average citizen. People around Rexburg claim that the college students are not to blame for the rise in Covid cases that's where your wrong. The week before the college kids came back our numbers were around 40-50 cases which within the population is extremely low! That week college kids came back into town we seen a massive jump by about 150 cases from what we were according to the mayor's all inspiring numbers he keeps us up to date with. So now you tell me we didn't have a influx of non students with families randomly move to town and that caused an increase in numbers. Nope it was because of the college students if they shop in our stores attend our churches attend our schools work at jobs around town be involved with community based things that makes them part of the Rexburg community wether it's long term or full term doesn't matter! The other issue is Wal-mart if you ever take a stroll through the parking lot or just walk into wal-mart they have mass hoards of people waiting around in long lines standing around in isles talking messing around etc. The longer people are inside a store the more of a chance they have of contracting something the more people that are inside a store the greater the chance of someone contracting something! If wal-mart went down to allowing 20- 25 at one time to go in get what they need and get out. Have wal mart set up appointments every hour for people to come shop 20 people per hour that's it after those 20 people are done within that hour then send in the next 20 people. So on and so forth. This way they would have room to seriously social distance mask or no mask if your socially distanced shouldn't be a problem. Also have 2 pharmacy techs helping the wal-mart employees at the doors check temps of everyone that comes in make them use sanitizer also as they come in. All of these measures could be used not just with or for wal-mart but also for other buisness around town this would I believe help to slow the spread somewhat more than now. There's nothing more we can do as citizens to safe gaurd our selves against Covid 19 it's hear we just need to keep doing what we've been doing and stay as safe as possible. Then again all of this is just about Money for you guys cause you city officials are just greedy and care about no one but your pockets being lined with our hard earned money. Show a little compassion show that you truly care about us as individuals that live in this area that work and shop and support local. Show that you have a heart towards those that have anxiety and closterphobia because of wearing a mask these are very real medical conditions just like Covid is real. Please take others people's mental health into account instead if just making this selfish decision and causing harm mentally or medically to those who are in the minority! Thank you for time.
