I shared a very stern objection to this back in July. I will not be so stern but you need to understand my position. I recognize that you are trying to keep people safe but the cost of loss of freedom is the most expensive action you can take. A vote in favor of this ordinance is not right. My business has natural distancing. We all have our own offices. Very few members of the public come in because the far majority of our revenue is generated from business outside the state. We have a very successful business here and I'm grateful for the logic and reason that has abounded in Rexburg during this ridiculous and politicized crisis. But, we cannot fall for the misrepresentations that are being thrust at us. If folks want to wear a mask, then they should be allowed. The same logic holds for those who do not. Looking at data showing infection rates after strict mask mandates in various parts of the world, it demonstrates the mask does not work. We need to face the fact that there is no way to stop this and in the long run, there are very, very, very few people it affects. I understand wearing a mask is a simple act. If it worked, there would be some logic to it. For businesses who, under their own will, require mandatory wearing of masks, I have no problem with that. I can either wear the mask or go elsewhere. It is still their choice to require this. It should be my choice to not require it. It in no way requires that someone not wear a mask if they choose to. You cannot continue to bear down on the citizens of Rexburg and the businesses that drive this economy with threats of socialistic leaning. My issue is when the government comes in and starts to threaten to revoke business licenses and shut down businesses over it. This is hostage in it's effect. Please consider the truth behind this and don't fall victim to the propaganda that is being spread to weaken our republic.
