Subject:Do not mandate
I implore you to vote no on any mask mandate.
I do believe that masks do slow down the virus when used correctly, but you have to appeal to peoples sentiments. It is
working. I know you see it too. When I am out and about more and more people are making the choice to wear masks.
The issue is not out and about- Covid is substantially being spread in casual social gatherings and in certain work
environments-- Not in schools and not in quick errands. It’s being spread in places you can not police. Apply the pathos
and loose the mandate. It will not work.
That said any of my issues with masking has to do with kids. For one wet masks are a detriment to health. Kids masks are
generally wet within a couple of hours. When they are given mask breaks in school- it does not mean a mask change-
they are required to put on the same wet mask. It is disgusting and scary. People mandate and do not give thought to
the consequences of the details of that mandate.
I have done a lot of local research. Specifically on 16 school districts in southeastern/central Idaho. Of the 16 districts, 8
mandated masks and 8 have not. There was literally no statistical difference in infection rates after 10 weeks of school
from the districts that mandated versus the districts that did not mandate. Masks are not being worn correctly and thus
they are not effective.
Mask on children and the adults they associate with greatly hinders emotional, social, and cognitive development when
the kids cannot see 3/4 of the face they are trying to interpret. Facial recognition and interpretation is a key factor in
social and emotional development. You are literally erasing this from kids lives for 7 to 10 hours per day.
