Subject:Opposition to forced mask mandate
Attachments:Annotated Bibliography on the Efficacy of Wearing Masks.pdf
Members of the City Council:
We have just learned of the intent to vote on a forced mask mandate tomorrow and to do so without
the normal allowance of three opportunities for citizens to express their positions. In fact, tonight at
9:00 PM was the first we heard of the vote, suggesting it is an attempt to sneak it in under the cloak of
darkness. We, the citizens, of Rexburg must be allowed to fully air our thoughts on a measure that so
drastically affects our lives and our freedom.
My wife and I are vehemently opposed to this measure. Masks are far from proven to
show effectiveness in slowing the spread of COVID-19 or any other virus. As an interested scientist, I
have spent many hours studying this topic and have read hundreds of pages from medical trade
journals (not journalists, politicians, activists, or politically-appointed health boards). Attached is an
annotated bibliography.
We will not surrender our freedom to an unproven restrictive measure. To force this on us, especially
without full opportunity to hear from us in a public forum is wrong, and we will do all in our power to
oppose it.
