Duplex Conversion
The ceilings must have 2 layers of 5/8" type X drywall for the fire separation. Smoke detectors must be hard wired with battery backup. Egress windows in the bedrooms. You willneed a 2A10BC Fire extinguisher hanging in the kitchen of both units.
