HomeMy WebLinkAboutNEWSPAPER CLIPS 7.7.2003, 7.14.2003 - Dev. Code Amend. - Design StandardsThe City of Rexburg has adopted new Multi family design standards for structures being built in the City. These standards require that buildings be approved only if they meet minimum criteria for building aesthetics and design. The intent of the standards is to mandate a higher level of construction in the multi -family, neighborhood, and mixed use zones, and to provide visually pleasing buildings for the community. Structures will be limited in total length to 160 feet and will be required to be reviewed in light of the presentation of the elevation facing the street. The City is concerned with how a structure presents itself to the passing public and the standards require all sides of a structure to maintain several basic design concepts. The Design Requirements are applicable to all Multi Family Dwellings, Public and Institutional Buildings and will be included in the City's new Neighborhood Commercial Zone and Mixed Use Zone Buildings. The architectural standards are intended to provide detailed, scale appropriate design, while affording flexibility to use a variety of building styles. Copies of the standards are available at City Hall and all contractors, developers or other interested parties are encouraged to come in and pick up a copy of Design Standard Ordinance 897.
