Re: Structural Review —150 -foot Self -Supporting Tower at the Rexburg Site for Proposed US
Cellular CDMA Antenna Installation
Dear Joe:
Artisan Engineering has completed a structural review of the original design documents,
existing antenna configuration, and the proposed US Cellular CDMA installation. The
document review was for the 1993 Fort Worth Tower design and the recent tower mapping
completed by General Dynamics. The purpose of the review was to determine if sufficient
capacity exists in the tower to allow the proposed US Cellular CDMA panel antennas to be
installed without need for an additional tower analysis.
The 150 -foot tall self-supporting tower is constructed of steel pipe leg and single angle
diagonal members. The tower was originally designed for 100 mph wind loading, in excess of
the local County requirements, with Y2 -inch of radial ice loading. It was also designed to
support (2) cellular antenna arrays on platforms and included (5) microwave antennas located
high on the tower.
The existing antenna loading consists of (4) omni -directional antennas near the 100 -foot level
and (3) microwave antennas as noted in the tower mapping report. By inspection, it is obvious
that the tower has sufficient reserve capacity to support the proposed US Cellular CDMA
panels with no need for analysis, upgrade, or any other structural concerns. We recommend
that the US Cellular antennas be installed as proposed and the antennas database for the
tower be updated accordingly.
We have enjoyed working with you on this project. If you have any additional questions,
comments, or concerns please feel free to call.
Sincerely, j,' A
