Smoke Alarms
2015 IRG Code 5ection 106. R314
All smoke alarms shall be listed in accordance with UL 211 &
installed in accordance with NFPA 12
-One in each sleeping area
-Outside of each separate sleeping area in the immediate
vicinity of the bedrooms
-On each additional story including un -finish & finished
basements and habitable attics but not including crawl
spaces and uninhabitable attics.
In dwellings or dwelling units with splits levels and without an
intervening door between the adjacent levels a smoke alarm
installed on the upper level shall suffice for the adjacent lower
level provided that the lower level is less than one full story
below the upper level.
-Alarm devices shall be interconnected with battery backup
that the actuation of one alarm will activate all of the alarms
Carbon Monoxide Alarms
2015 IRG 5ection 106 & R315.1 New Construction an approved
carbon monoxide alarm installed
outside of each sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of
bedroom and dwelling units. They shall be listed as complying
with UL 2034 and installed accordingly
Crawl Space: Through Floor min 16"x24" or through perimeter
wall min 16"x24" required crawl space opening. If applicable,
refer
to mechanical code for access requirements where mechanical
equipment is located under floors.

The under -floor space between the bottom of the
floor joistand the earth under any building (except
space occupied by a basement) shall have ventilation
openings through foundation walls or exterior walls.
The minimum net area of ventilation opening shall
not be less than 1 s/f for each 150 s/f of under
floor area, unless the ground surface is covered by
a class 1 vapor retarder material. If the vapor retarder
is used the min. net area of ventilation openings shall
not be less than 1 s/f for each 1500 s/f. One such
vent shall be within 3' of each corner of the building.

New Construction an approved carbon monoxide alarm installed outside of
each sleeping area in the Immediate vicinity of bedroom and dwelling units.
They shall be listed as complying with UL 2034 and installed accordingly
Fastners for Preservative treated wood
Fastner for Preservative treated wood shall be of hot dipped
zinc -coated galvanized steel, stainless steel, silicon bronze or
copper.
Exceptions:
1. One-half Inch (12.1mm) diameter or greater steel bolts.
2. Fastenrers other than nail & timber rivets shall be permitted to
be of mechanical deposited zinc coated steel with coating weights
in accordance with A5TM B6g5 class 55 min.
Ventilation 2015 IRG, Section R406.1, R406.2, and R406.3
The under -floor space between the bottom of the floorjoists and
the earth under any building (except space occupied by a
basement) shall have ventilation openings through foundation
walls or exterior walls. The minimum net area of ventilation
opening shall not be less than 1 elf for each 300 elf of under floor
space area, unless the ground surface is covered by a Glass 1
vapor retarder material.
If the vapor retarder is used the min. net area of ventilation
openings shall not be less than 1 51f for each 1500 s/f.
One such vent shall be within 3' of each corner of building.
Frost Protection 403.14 1
Except where otherwise protected From frost, foundation walls, piers and other
permanent supports of buildings and structures shall be protected from frost by
one or more of the following methods:
1. Extended below the frost line specified in Table R301.2
2. Construct in accordance with Section 403.3
