Craig called the meeting to order and introduced new member Corey Rammell. Steve Z. was absent and he had the minutes from the last meeting so they were not read. Randy L. was absent so there was no police report. John Millar: Street Report. The flags and x -walk are in place on 4' So. but not on 2nd West. Highway 33 will get new signs soon. Reconstruction on Hwy 33 will start end of July. The So. Rexburg Arterial preliminary design is completed and will go E. just S. of Miller's Hideaway. There will be a controlled intersection at 7' So. and it will be a thru street at 5d` West. Discussion on train problem at 5' West and Yellowstone Hwy. A traffic light will be installed this summer on 2°d E. at So. entrance to Tri -County Equip. and entrance into Albertson's. This is to be started next week. The stop lights thru town will not be synchronized for 2 yrs. as two of the older lights must be replaced first. A traffic light will be installed this summer at the Mother Hibbard's corner. John is working on getting the flags at 3' S. and 2nd W. and also signs (near Taco Time). It was suggested that blinking lights should be put at this busy intersection. Discussion: Question about x -walks and flags on 4 -lane streets. Chris asked about changing the parking on Main St. while redoing the roads. John said that will be considered later by the state and there is a possibility of off street parking instead. Corey asked what determines whether an intersection is a 4 -way or 2 -way stop. Discussion on this and it was noted that the W. I' S. And S. 1` W. intersection is dangerous and busy. Parking around Campus: College Ave., Harvard and Cornell have parking problems. Discussion: Craig said the college is planning more parking but it's all to the south. Eric suggested that faculty park in faculty parking lots instead of on street. It was suggested that the practice field be made into a parking lot. Possible solutions: meters around campus, permit parking for residents in front of their own homes, post for 2 hr. parking. We decided none of these sounded like a good solution. We decided to let this ride for now and see if the problem lessens when the new buildings, remodels and additions are completed as this may move more of the campus to the South. John made a motion that he send a survey to homeowners around the college and high school to get their input on the problems. Rose seconded and the motion passed. Craig asked that committee members watch for poor lighting or lighting problems mainly in their assigned area but also anywhere they travel in the city. In new business, we need one more member for the committee. It was decided we would like someone from the middle school. Craig will get some names for consideration. It was reported that there is more jaywalking on 2°d E. Randy will contact the college and get them to advertise and educate the students on jaywalking or tickets may be issued. Next meeting: Aug. 5'at 5:00 p.m.
