My name is Kent Archibald. I am an Optometrist. I have practiced in Rexburg
since 1976 and built my professional building at 76 Professional Plaza in 1978
(corner of Professional Plaza and First South). We have remodeled internally
four different times, but the practice of Optometry has expanded significantly and
a remodel and an expansion are needed for us to provide current eye care.
The Professional Plaza is zoned residential with a professional overlay. I have
two informational questions regarding the setback of buildings in the Plaza.
The current setback from the front of my office to the sidewalk (facing the Plaza)
is.17 feet. I would like to decrease that setback to five feet. This would allow
expansion of my building by 516 sq. ft.
The current setback to the south of my office is 15 feet from the sidewalk (and 39
feet from the road). I would also like to decrease this setback to five feet from
the sidewalk. This would allow expansion of my building by 400 sq. ft.
The current size of my building is 1720 sq. ft. Together these changes would
allow an expansion of the building to 2636 sq. ft. This would allow us to expand
examination rooms, treatment rooms and frame selection areas. I would like
approval by the P & Z board so that plans can be drawn up and the building
inspector can give his approval.
