Does the new roof match the old roof in size? If it is larger or protrudes past the existing roof boundaries, a site plan is required. Identify how micro lam beams connect to house and posts. 12" piers only have a footprint area of .8 sq. feet. Approximate design roof load,using 15 Ib. dead load and 35 Ib. live load (snow) is 6250 lbs per pier. Assuming a 2000 Ib per sq. foot allowable soil bearing pressure, a footing of 3.125 sq. feet would be required. This approach does not take into account any factor of safety and assumes decent soil conditions. Please provide a minimum 2' by 2' footing under each 12" pier.
