All pipes will be underground. The 54 foot west wall is visible to the public, which would make the Design Standards applicable. It is a large expanse of wall, and they are looking for a way to interrupt this visually. Gary Leikness recommended that the window concept present on the existing Chiller Building be continued. The design would then be visually consistent, even if the windows used are not "real' windows. Jackson Ferguson will submit possible options to Gary Leikness, and Gary will communicate these to the Design Review Committee for review. CITY OF REXBURG America's Family Community Design Review Committee Meeting— Chiller Building Addition #08 00040 and #06 00625 BYU-I Auditorium 11:00 am May 8, 2008 Attendees: Design Review Committee members - Thaine Robinson, Randall Porter, Ted Hill, Winston Dyer Applicants -Jackson Ferguson and Jim Lewis of FFKR Architects, Charles Andersen and Rulon Nielsen of BYU-I Staff- Val Christensen, John Millar, Elaine McFerrin Chiller Building As discussed in the April 25`" Design Review meeting, the existing central heating plant is adding an expansion on the east side. The 54 foot west wall is visible to the public. Today's meeting concerned that large expanse of wall and how it could be broken up visually. It was agreed that there will be 2 insets (14'by 9') into the brick wall, with a mix of large trees, to visually break up this wall. BYUI- Auditorium At the exterior northern corner of the building, there is a large retention tank, which they are integrating into the design of the building. It was agreed that rather than a tiered area of landscaping, there will now be an area of lawn that can be used for snow storage. The wall will be textured, along with a mix of large- growing trees to visually break up this wall.
