It has not been proven that wearing a mask effectively prevents someone from getting Covid. I feel that wearing a mask is more detrimental to my health as it makes it harder to breathe and I feel breathing in carbon dioxide, even at small levels makes me feel dizzy. I fell once due to the combination of fog on my glasses and feeling unsteady on my feet due to mask. I do wear a mask in store, to be considerate, but I take off the minute I get outside to catch my breath. I know there are people with medical conditions that prevent people from wearing masks. I feel that requiring people to wear masks creates a unnecessary panic and general emotion boundary between people. I have been to an area where masks were required. It would not be a place I would like to live. The people were not loving or kind towards each other . They were more judgmental, and angry about everything. They were very quick to point out if your mask was crooked or if you were 5.5 feet away and not 6. Also, all the reports that I've seen about Covid lead me to believe it is not as bad as they are saying. I've known a couple people who had been sick with Covid and it lasted a few days. I'm not saying people haven't died, but people have died from other flues and illnesses. My friend's husband died of pneumonia 3 years ago before Covid had ever been invented. There will always be illnesses and death weather you have a mask or not. My concern is our the masks actually healthy for us to be wearing. I think having the children wear masks all day at school is a bad idea to. Another problem I have with the ordinance is the fine and punishment you plan to set. The economy is at its worst and you want to charge people $100 for not wearing a mask. Many people can hardly put food on the table. Now they got to buy over priced masks, and pay $100 if they forget to put it on, which will be senior citizens whose memory isn't what it use to be. That is just taking advantage of a situation. I think people have been educated. They know to take precautions and wash hands. If Covid increases in Rexburg, it will be due to people from other states passing through to get to Yellowstone or Island Park and stopping at Walmarts for supplies. So, my opinion for the ordinance is no. If there is to be an ordinance, then the fine should be $10 not $100.
