As a Rexburg resident and business owner, I would like to voice my opinion on the proposed mask ordinance along with the $100 fine.
I believe it is highly unacceptable and unnecessary to first, require all residents to wear a mask, and two, impose a fine for not doing so.
I disagree with any city official who would choose to force residents to wear masks, especially when studies have shown that doing so is not necessary. It does not affect healthy people
from getting COVID-19. Masks only prevent infected people from spreading it.
Those infected should self quarantine to prevent the spread of the virus.....oh wait, that is a requirement.
If passed, I won't wear a mask, I won't require employees or people coming in to wear a mask, and if fined, I won't pay your fine either. You can write more parking tickets and jaywalking
tickets to make up for my mask fine.
