HomeMy WebLinkAboutIn Support of the Mask MandateTo whom it may concern,
My name is Jenna Schwarz and I'm a BYU-Idaho graduate and Rexburg resident. I'm writing in regards to the potential mask mandate that is being voted on today by the Rexburg City Council.
I appreciate the concern and actions being taken to help prevent the spread of Covid-19, and as a Rexburg resident I encourage you to move forward with the mandate and make it official.
Just a few days ago, the CDC called on Americans to wear masks, as it's "one of the most powerful weapons we have to slow and stop the spread of the virus" (https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2020/p0
714-americans-to-wear-masks.html).
With students from all over the country preparing to come back to Rexburg for the fall semester, I think it's now more important than ever to ensure that we all do our part in preventing
further spread of the coronavirus. Wearing masks doesn't just protect ourselves, it protects our families, friends, coworkers, and anyone we encounter throughout our daily activities.
Again, I ask that you please approve the city-wide mask mandate. At the same time, be mindful of those with medical conditions or other unique circumstances that may prevent them from
wearing a mask. Wearing a mask is a small sacrifice to make, but it's worth it if it prevents the coronavirus taking even just one life in our community.
Thank you,
Jenna Schwarz
